Straight from the heart of 4chan's /mu/ comes the music sharing thread! The simple intention of this thread is to post links to music by little known bands whose music is free to access and enjoy by all! It's an idea that is done many times on /mu/, and I've downloaded many great indie music by some pretty cool bands.

My favourite so far is Borrowed Beams of Light [http://www.mediafire.com/?lml02hwnzxd]. Their music can best be described as upbeat hipster-pop, and I'd definitely recommend listening to them.

Now comes the less happy part...

WARNING: I can't stress enough how important it is that you don't post any illegal content. The album I posted, for example, is freely available to download through a number of means, their Last FM page included. That is, they gave permission for it to be downloaded for free. Don't be an idiot and don't post illegal content; this thread will get locked and you'll probably get some form of mod wrath. Just use this rule of thumb: if it's free, it's good to post here! The purpose of this thread is to enjoy unheard of small-time bands; don't go posting some Top 40 music, please.

Are we all clear? Good! Get posting some great free music!

K, I like to get songs from Palms Out West. Here's the link. Look for remix Sunday. I have a ton of other sites too if anyone likes techno.

Do Youtube videos count as legal here?
Well yeah, since they're freely available to watch for free. I was referring to actuall MP3 downloads in my OP, but by all means post any Youtube videos.

I stumbled across this song the other day, and the band is virtually unknown here in Denmark.

My personal favorite metal musician who is extremely underrated:

One of the few Japanese pop bands that are actually good:

Another great metal band, this time Viking:

Not really indie or anything, some people know of them. Not enough people do though:

And finally, one of my other favorites. An underrated Canadian rock group:

I may edit more in later.

All of the flashbulb's stuff is free and amazing.

Also, has anyone else noticed the 4chanization of the escapist since the end of march mayhem? I got nothing against you OP, it's just something I've noticed.

This is one of my favourite "bands". It's a one-man industrial project. The only way you'd really know about them is if you like Swedish death metal, because it's the same guy from Hypocrisy.

From the geniuses that brought you Harry Potter Puppet Pals and The Ultimate Showdown Of Ultimate Destiny...
A few of their tracks are free on their site, this being one of them.

What do you mean wut?
Devin might be an amazing musician and composer, but he's hardly underrated, mate.
No offense, but what the hell are you talking about? No one ever seems to know who he is and his albums almost never chart.

I've yet to talk to anyone outside of the Escapist who has even heard of him.

I once stumbled across a group of people called Zelda Reorchestrated. They do versions of the soundtracks to games from the Legend of Zelda series with a full size orchestra. Obviously it gets a bit redundant since the series did move away from 8-bit and into film-size orchestras which are much much larger than a standard orchestra, but even listening to them doing Ocarina of Time with their own slight variation on it is a fairly impressive feat and something that they definitely deserve praise for. Besides, it also made me awefully nostalgic for OOC when I decided to listen to the whole thing. Here's [http://www.zreomusic.com/index.php] a link to the official site where you can listen to and download some of their music. It is worth a listen.

Also, I have Moon8 [http://rainwarrior.thenoos.net/music/moon8.html] to offer. Ever wondered what Pink Floyd's Dark Side of the Moon would sound like if it was written for an 8-Bit videogame? No? Neither have I, but this man did. It's actually really dedicated to making the music itself sound like the original album, the only variation being in the instrumentation. And besides, this is just awesome:
