For years I would mute video games or turn them way, way down and it seems I suddenly came out of it. I've tried playing music while gaming and the results have been mostly positive but one thing I just won't do is play music while I'm playing Halo by myself. Out of all the hours of music, there are maybe 15 seconds that annoy me. Now that I think about it, I stopped muting games about the time I got medication for my ADD, so make of that what you will.

I love playing some Black Metal while playing online FPS's. I feel such a rush trying to take on many people at once when hearing the Double bass pedals drumming through my ears.

I usualy throw on somthing that fits what I'm playing, like Rhapsody for fantasy games and Arsis/Dissection/whatever for action stuff.

I have yet to find a band and game that fit so perfectly together as did Ensiferum and Viking: Battle For Asgard.

Generally i listen to my own music when i play online. A perfect kombination is hardocre techo and Quake. I usually find myself jumping in tact with the music, instead of just running.

Back when I played WoW, music was pretty much a necessity. It made the grinding somewhat less monotonous.

In mmos I either shut the music off completely or just listen to my own stuff. For single player games I just listen to the music in the game.

I play my own music while game at times but only set a certain mood. If I want the game to be dramatic I listen to Videotape by Radio head but if I want it to be kinda funny I listen to Foxtrot Uniform Charlie Kilo by Bloodhound Gang.

My PC is not that strong, so I don't dare running music in the background. The only alternative for me would be radio, but my little, old radio has a terrible audio quality so I usually deal with the ingame music.
FO3 did a pretty good job at this btw.
