Pretty much anything from the Red Alerts.

That's not just good game music, that's good music!

I still have the Blazblue sountrack in my car, as well as the Nintendo Orchestra cd that was given out when Smash Brothers Melee came out.

Can't leave the house without checking my camo rating and listening to Snake Eater from MGS3: I'd put up a link but Youtube appears to have died.

I actively listen to old Sonic, Legend of Zelda Contra, Tetris, Castlevania, Megaman, Mario, and other 8/16-bit classics.

Can't beat the best.

Fallout 3's radio music. Roy Browns stuff on that game was amazing, shame he only had two tracks, granted one of them is one of my favorite songs "Butcher Pete."

I really like chiptune, so I go back to listen to a lot of various tunes from certain 8-bit games. However, the "little diddy" format, like for the Pokemon Bicycle theme don't have too much staying power for me. Chiptune has grown up a lot over the past few decades, to be able to encompass songs of all sorts, not just nostalgia candy.
Tower of Heaven is this 8-bit flash game that, while having a multiple-versions-of-the-same-theme soundtrack, hosts some of my favorite video game music period. Even though I'm TERRIBLE at the actual game.
Oh YES! Thank you for reminding me of that amazing game and it's equally amazing soundtrack. (And by the way, if you love Chiptune so much, what did you think of VVVVVV's soundtrack? And if you haven't heard it, why not? ;) )

In any case. You can hear the entire soundtrack on SoulEye's (the composer's) YouTube page here: http://www.youtube.com/user/SoulEyeDigitalMusic. I got the MP3s of this with my copy of VVVVVV and they've been on my IPod since I received them. This is some of my favorite chiptune music, and it really ties in well with the game's sense of exploration, excitement and emptiness.

I also am LOVING the sounds of AfterLife, a game in which you must build Heaven and Hell. Its extensive use of eastern music styles and spacey, vibrant sounds really gives this vast, bizarre world a haunting sound that really draws you in. I find myself imagining some of my favorite rewards and punishments when I listen to these tracks.

And of course, there's so much more I could point out, but I just wanted to throw the two I've been listening to most out lately there.

Not really music from games, but Mass Effect turned me onto the band Faunts, who did the end credits song. Amazing band.

Oh and the brentalfloss songs

The incredible lack of Total Annihilation's soundtrack in this thread forced me to make an account.

I present to you:

That game had an awesome soundtrack! As well as being awesome in general - IMO it proves that strategy games haven't changed that much (fundamentally) in over a decade - got to still one of the best out there.

Thinking about it, the soundtrack in the Total War games has generally been memorable - Shogun 1 has the best IMO. Mobilise 1 (I think it was called) - epic chanting!
Bioware games are the same. Mass Effect 1, 2 and KOTOR all have epic music, as well as generally being great.
Bethesda games are the same and I would also include the soundtracks on the Stalker games for the soundtrack fitting really well and helping build a really good atmosphere.

I still listen to the entire Baten Kaitos, Devil May Cry 3, Kanon, Majora's Mask, Guilty Gear X2, Super Smash Brothers Melee, and A Drug That Makes You Dream soundtracks.

Plus a large smattering of other stuff from Megaman X, Oni, the Tales and Final Fantasy series, and Soul Calibur 2.
I agree with Baten Kaitos and Super Smash Bros, the Zelda music is good, but I don't listen to it and I haven't played the other games.
I also listen to music from Sonic Adventure 2, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u9zZus_1_ag

I suppose my Guitar Hero and Guitar Hero 2 playlists probably don't exactly meet the criteria...

I do, however, have two different versions of 'Still Alive' in my playlist.

'Excremental Intermission' by Tim Halbert from the flash game Boomshine (found on most flash game sites like AddictingGames.com) not only has an infinite loop playlist on my phone for when I just need to chill out, but also lets me know when my sister's calling.

I have the 100 extra songs from the 'GNR - More Where That Came From' mod for Fallout 3 as a WMP playlist on my PC (though I'll admit that I've only put it to use on packing/moving days, for some reason).

I've simply left Mount & Blade: Warband minimized for a few hours and let the ambient music keep playing on my laptop.

Anything from ME1 and 2,Dragon Age, and anything Kingdom Hearts. Some people might find the story a little sappy, but Yoko Shimomura is one hell of a composer.
