I thought we were lacking in the music department in the off-topic part of the forum,
so I was wondering what everyones favourite music is.

For me it always comes back to The White Stripes, The Raconteurs and The Arctic Monkeys
What about yourselves?

I'm not one for favorites, but I do usually go through phases.

Currently it's Morrissey, Against Me!, Taking Back Sunday, Johnny Cash, Interpol, HORSE the Band and the occasional random song here and there.

I kind of like anything Indie, although my music style is pretty much anything. I like a little bit of Electropop (listen to Little Boots, Alex Roots and La Roux on last.fm, and you'll be pleasantly surprised :D). I also don't mind Rock, like Nickelback, Nu Metal (mainly Linkin Park), a bit of emo stuff is always good (I bought Evanescence's album The Open Door today), then there's always a good bit of Swing too (Frank Sinatra, Bing Crosby, I'm always up for listening to a bit of the old Rat Pack). Yeah, I love all sorts of stuff, always willing to give new music a try.

I like music that doesn't suck dog balls. That being said it's my own personal dogballs so you can go suck on your dogballs all you want.

Are you absolutely sure about that? Like, really?

Not to be a total Deja Nazi:

Hardcore techno (Gabba & speedcore mainly).

I listen to a wide variety of artists and genres, but I worship Bob Dylan. Nothing else compares.

I do an irregular music review column for a local paper, mostly indie acts and local bands. But it's turned me onto some great obscure bands (and some not so obscure ones). My preferences change as new material emerges, but at the top of my playlist right now is:

Antony & the Johnsons
The Fire Theft
People in Planes
The Wailin' Jennys
Sean Hayes
Iron & Wine
Porcupine Tree

Plus dozens others, but those have gotten the most play recently.

I like any song from any band I like. I don't have a straight band or type. The only band that I really like is Nightwish. They are the only band that I like that I'll stay with for a looooong time. I would also have to say the same with Weird Al. :D

Same here.

I don't tend to like bands so much as individual songs, but here's a list of some of them that I tend to like because people love lists:
Jonathan Coulton
Freezepop
Dresden Dolls
HumanWine

End list.

I love modern music sure.... but that's just a torrid affair. My one true love is classical and jazz.

I have a deep respect for the two, especially John Coltrane, the wonderful jazz fusion of the Mahavishnu Orchestra, modern jazz based material like the Seatbelts (eg. Cowboy Bebop soundtrack), and the symphonies of Beethoven.

However, I'd have to say my absolute favourite band right now is the Littlest Man Band, I can guarantee you haven't heard of them. Look them up on Youtube perhaps, a song called Always Sayin' always has the power to blow you away. There's something about bands with horn sections that just get me going.

I like instrumental guitar. My favorite artist is currently Buckethead, who also happens to be God.

Tom Lehrer is extremely awesome as well.
