I was really bored and decided to make a topic that came to mind,(within forum rules) So I have decided to ask 'why do you listen to music?'. I listen to music because my mind wanders without it. I believe also that music calms the mind and is like a drug in the sense that we can dance to it and not care what others think, we lose ourselves to it. personally my choice of music is jungle(rave), techno and trance.

I listen to music because otherwise walk/driving my car would be unnervingly quiet,
and also I think music is the best thing in the world.
It can totally change you emotion, if your in a shit mood one song can completely cheer you up... Of course the reverse is true as well.

I listen to my music, because it makes me feel powerful, as weird as that sounds.

Music is my life (well, music and hugs...)
I play music to learn, I listen music to invoke emotions that otherwise would not exists
Upon a single song can a tide change, a mood swing, a day shine
Music is all, music is in speech, is laughter, in love
The rhythmic beating of your heart, the crescendos and diminuendos of life and love...

Music is everything me friend...
Why do we listen to it?
For with out it, life is nothing
The question that aught be asked is...
Why not?

The concept of exploiting and controlling noise and turning it into smething beautiful is really soothing and interestng. This is why I'm a fan of all genres.... Except emo and hardcore etc. Oh, and white gangsta rap. Yeah, I get it, you can blast out 100 words a second with the same note. Geeze.

I listen to music... because it sounds good :D

Also, on long walks and car journeys listening to music can help pass the time, it creates a lovely variety of emotions and invokes a number of thoughts, feelings and memories- It takes you on quite a mental trip.

It appeals to me, i feel it flowing through me at times and it can really sync with my moods.
When it does, i start to sing softly and quietly.

Like when i am in a really good mood and feeling bouncing, 'shake it*' seems to fit really well.
When i am a bit down 'Arms of sorrow*' seems to go really well to fit the mood.
When i am really down '21 guns*' seems to flow in me.
and for a undisclosed reason im not going to say 'savior*' seems to fit really well at the moment.

I listen to music mainly because I'm bored and also because I like certain sounds in combination with certain words. They just make me feel fuzzy.

Because it is awesome!!! I also own some piece of music to fit my every mood (some songs even have specific lyrics to my specific situation/feelings) so whatever I'm feeling, I can put on some music that is in harmony with my feelings.

I was going into this thread with my Search Bar stamp inked and ready, but then I saw the OP. Topic is original but the name needs work.

I like to listen to music to either calm me down or get me dancing. There's nothing like pitching my voice and fast dancing to The Game of Love [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j0EA73HGBOg&feature=PlayList&p=0635C63B8529735F&index=0&playnext=1]. Also the feeling of lying next to your lover listening to Bob Marley, you can't get me more relaxed.

I listen to music to experience certain emotions or set moods. At times for purely intellectual reasons too.

I also tend to use them to focus either my thoughts or my efforts, I'm not sure if that makes me pragmatic or that i have higher EQ than i thought.

I listen to music because I'm so addicted to it I can't really function without it :/ The sound is soothing and it makes me feel better after a shitty day to listen to it, or sing along. It's also awesome and it's one of those things absolutely anyone can connect with or have a good conversation about.

It makes me happy, all I can say about it. I love the rhythms, the melody, the song, everything about it. Also, at occasions I imagine playing the songs on stage.
