Ever notice when you listen to music for too long, that you start hearing patterns across multiple songs? And then when you go one step further, and you start hearing entire chord progressions across different songs?

I just found this.
Compare to this, which came out later

Ever had that happen before? I know that Two Steps from Hell is rather infamous for making their own riffs on popular music, but I've never seen it done in the inverse, with someone taking cues from them.

Also, here's another comparison. Not two steps from hell, but tell me what it sounds like.

I compared then at the same time

I actually can't hear much of the difference between the 2 songs aside from random trumpets which I assume comes from the space marine song. And then at the end they just diverge.

I suppose it's just the orchestra genre that makes em sound similar though that's just a guess

That's a neat little tool. Wish I'd seen it before.

Nope, that's sort of too complex for my plebian music knowledge sir. All I know is that 3IOB songs love their badass banshee screams. It's practically their trademark.

I can see how the background music fits with the main music in a song sure, but comparing it to other songs is more difficult and I wouldn't be able to/can't be arsed to go along with it. :p

Ok guys. It's another music thread... Should I? Ah fuck it

I just can't help myself can I?

Though taking about symmetry...

You see, playing this awesome dirge type song that honestly drags on for quite a while then subtley scaling it into this beautiful orchestral version of I'll Face Myself then into another version of RRTTT is just genius. The real strength of the song is how it's timed. Chances are you'll have just about figured out the boss' attack patterns and how to deal with it just as the dirge starts to die down.

That's some truly epic stuff when played together. I have heard some many songs do things like that it's not even funny.

Well you can only be so creative with chord progressions. Certain stuff just sounds good together no matter what so why not go with it? Almost all those ominous intro pieces to movies/games sound alike.

Assuming I understand what you're getting at, there's actually a trope of what you're saying [http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/SuspiciouslySimilarSong?from=Main.TheJimmyHartVersion]

And this may also be relevant.

Chord progressions are a really convoluted matter and you have to be a trained musician to understand them, but since most non-classically oriented music is simple using a very straightforward and standard chord progression is to be expected. That's why they sound the same.
