Ok, so tonight im going to go check out this "back to the 80's" show to see if i want to be in it. it might be awesome, or it might suck, i dont know. I do know that i've been in two other musicals, First High School Musical, then Hair, both of which were assloads of fun. Has anyone else done any Musical Theatre? any fans? any Pit Musicians?

There's something about "musical theatre" and "assloads of fun" in the same sentence which is making me giggle really immaturely.

On a more serious note, musical theatre is fun, but you have to be picky with what you do. There are only so many times you can do jazz hands and not lose the will to live, I think. Too much high-camp can just be nauseating. I was in http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Boy_Friend ages ago though, which was great fun.

I was the pirate king in my schools Pirate of Penzance a few years back. Best fun I've ever had!

Plus I met my ex girlfriend and current girlfriend while doing it =D

Musicals are awesome!

The H.M.S. Pinafore was one of the greatest things I have ever seen. And Robert daCosta's 'The Music man' is still one of my favoirte movies to watch.
Great Honk! It's been like 7 years since I was introduced to the movie! Time flies...

I've been in four musicals. Mostly because there's been nothing better. I like singing, I love acting, but I'd prefer if it made sense that my character sang, instead of it feeling forced.

I've been in about as many musicals as Mario has been in games, and it's the most fun I could ever possibly have. I actually decided a while back to pursue it as a career, and I'm now a proud theatre major :)

<--- Theatre Major :-D

I played Princess Jasmine in "Aladdin and his Wonderful Magical Lamp,"
And my favorite part ever was definitely Mrs. Peacock in "Clue: the Musical." Mrs. Peacock in the show was more like Mrs. White from the movie (Madeline Kahn's character) so I got to play a rich, money-grubbing woman on her sixth marriage. I was upset at first because I really wanted Miss Scarlet, so I asked my director why I was Peacock and she said "because Peacock has a solo," which of course satisfied my ego, lol. I also had some of the best lines of the show-
Mrs. Peacock: "I was in the study with the handyman,"
Detective: "What time?"
Mrs. Peacock: "Honey, when you're with a big, burly handyman, you don't take notice of the time."

I also directed "Alice in Wonderland," and had a cast of 45. FORTY FIVE. Granted, they all weren't there until tech week, as I worked scene by scene each day and only the characters from those scene needed to be present.

I'm sorry, I'm rambling.
And yes, cleverlymadeup, I'd say so. I met Sam Raimi at Cinema Wasteland in Cleveland :-D

I had to take off my pants on stage in a musical once. Lets see who can guess what musical it was.

I really should have worn boxer shorts underneath. (I swear to god I am not kidding here.)

I've been in a few musicals in my time, I enjoy them. Really, though, there are some good musicals out there and some crap musicals out there. I like the stuff that deals with complex character relationships, underlying social issues and problems and stuff - Musicals like Fiddler on the Roof, Chicago, Sweeney Todd (love the Todd), Keating the Musical, Les Miserables, Rent, stuff like that. If you just like stuff like High School Musical, I guess thats your call.
My very first college play required me to be in lingerie only.
"Hi Lauren, welcome to college theatre. Now take off your clothes."

I also had a funny goof in my Freshman year of high school- we were all hippies in this scene, and we were pretending to be asleep. I was laying near my friend Justin and when I rolled over (of course facing the audience) my shirt came entirely unbuttoned. Justin pulled me towards him, which in turn placed me behind a fat girl laying on her side. We very barely contained our laughter.

EDIT: Oh, yes, the musical... hmm, Rocky Horror?

I've seen the HMS Pinafore and thought it was pretty good but thats the only musical I have ever seen unless you count Disney movies.

Sometimes I wish life were a musical. [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Mg1Na8kDfVA]

Directing came naturally for me, strangely enough. I've always been a sort of leader in whatever I do. We were part of the International Thespian Society in high school, and I was Public Relations Officer for my last two years, even while I directed and held a lead role in the shows (except my own, I was purely behind the scenes there, as a director should be). That meant that not only was I directing 45 teenagers, I was also creating the program, designing and printing the posters and tickets, and making sure that all dates were cleared through the school administration. I was also the only seamstress in our troupe, which meant that I was designing the costumes and sewing them myself, although I did teach a couple younger ones how to do it so they could take over when I left. And I was a Senior Mentor to THREE Freshmen. Senior year was crazy, but I'm pretty much unable to function without that level of stress now.

And Indigo, if it wasn't Rocky Horror, I'm clueless. It's the only one I've seen with half-naked people with the exception of Equus, which obviously isn't a musical, so it doesn't count, lol.

Four here, too.

My favourite so far has been Little Shop of Horrors; really great, backed up by a wonderfully (if not a little eccentric) cast to work with.

Someone should make Chasers: If Life Were A Musical into an actual musical. xD

thought so, i was just glad the chin didn't make me dump blood on myself for asking a dumb question

as for musials i recommend these

evil dead the musical - it's just awesome
sweeny todd - it's got lots of blood
rocky horror picture show - it's just a sweet transvestite ...
avenue q - all i can say is puppet sex, don't need much more than that

those are in short any and all musicals i will go see, unless for some reason they do make a reanimator the musical then i will go see that

Helena Bonham Carter couldn't hold a candle to Angela Lansbury as Mrs. Lovett. Though, she does have her own kind of craziness about her. Her eyes alone make you think she's nuts.

I'll pretty much go and see whatever musicals come to Toledo, because there aren't many. Mostly I get stuck with high school performances, which suck except for a few. It's all about the money. The richer schools have the best shows, and my school, well, he had a hell of a lot of talent but no money to back it up. I always maintained that were were the best at giving an all-out performance even without great costumes, set, or props.

Love Musicals.

Spamalot, Phantom (obviously), Miss Saigon, Les Miserables, South Park (It SO is)

Cats was ok, Fame/Grease were dull and I need to see Avenue Q.
