To the musicians of The Escapist, I'm curious what instrument you're not experienced at all with, but would love to one day learn?

I'm a guitarist and sometimes bassist myself, but I've always, always wanted to become proficient with the piano. I LOVE Jerry Lee Lewis style rock and roll piano, and I've always dreamed of incorporating that into a punk band, to take the place of a lead guitar.

Hows bout you folks?

Well, ten years of careful saving and sniping auctions have helped me to get the few "MUST HAVE" long-term-investment instruments I've wanted. Specifically the Roland V Synth and Clavia Nord Modular models.

But, infinite dream budget you say? Here's a few without hesitation studio additions:

Korg MS20 + MS50 = My analog modular dream machines

TC Electronics Fireworx

The Kyma Capybara (dedicated hardware/software unit)

Elektron Monomachine (wonderful, expensive, oddity: 5 independant monosynths in one box}

And for the mad scientist in me: The LRAD

Well I play bass and the piano, and would like to learn the zither. And the saxophone. Actually I hope one day to be a one-girl jazz band. I'm completely unfamiliar with both those instruments, and I've never played an instrument that requires, well, blowing, except maybe the recorder.

An automatic (and by that I mean I can play it with keys) air powered digeridoo organ.

Also a harp. And one of those super digitech delay pedals with the looper, and also a multiple fx one, and a new guitar amp, and a new bass amp, and a robot that I can program to play said bass and guitar at the same time, plus one of those Korg pad things that light up, a full fledged mixer, and also better speakers that are stereo, or quadraphonic, that can be precise and ultra sensitive rather then super loud, but they can also go super loud if a need that.

I can play the guitar, base, piano, and drums, and would love to learn the saxophone.

I'd love to learn the Piano. I can play guitar and bass, but I feel like I'm missing out with my lack of piano knowledge...

I would love to play the Theramin. I got one a while ago but I couldn't get it to work.

Actually I would prefer playing the Harmonica, now that I think about it.

I would like to build a steam-powered organ of some kind someday. Even if there would only be a few notes possible to play. It might sound cool, especially if I worked something into the pipes.

Speaking of pipes, I would also like to engineer some bagpipes that can actually be played well, you know, in tune and stuff.

The Saxophone, I'm not inexperienced though because I played the Clarinet for 5 or so years when I was young. My Dad actually has a Saxophone, and he's said I can use it if I want, but it's such a commitment. I don't wanna be average with it, if I played it I'd wanna master it to the point where I can play without thinking. Plus, I'm self-conscious with creative, personal things in front of my family, like drawings, stuff I write, instruments etc, and you can hear the Saxophone from outside the house it's so loud. It's weird though because I'm not self-conscious about that shit with strangers.

I already have a keyboard, now to learn how to play it with two hands.

Edit: Also, drum software. :p

Bari, tenor, alto, or soprano?

I kinda miss my old sax playing days. Dropped it when the school program went to shit, regretted it a while later ever since...and now, it's gone :-(

I play the flute and trumpet (yeah, yeah, glorified whistles :p), but I really want to learn guitar. And if I could own any guitar I wanted, I'd want this:

It's a Les Paul TV Yellow '69, Johnny Thunders' guitar. Freaking beautiful, isn't it?

Oh God my list is enormous

There are a few more instruments but I won't learn how to play them until after university

I can play most things (yes, including theremin). The few instruments I can't play (mainly brass and woodwind) I don't really have much interest in, but I'd love to play trombone just so I could annoy people with that slidey thing, and sax because sax can be so tremendously annoying. That'd be awesome.

I'd love to learn double-bass, but I have neither the funds nor the space. I'm decent enough with a bass guitar, so I may just stick to that.
