I've been an avid Morrowind user for ages now (hence the avatar), and I'm thinking about getting into Oblivion. I've got the game and both expansions, and I've messed around in it a bit, but Morrowind wasn't any good until I got a collection of mods, so what should I start with in Oblivion? Transport-wise, or combat stuff, anything other than graphics enhancements will do fine :)

Downloading Oblivion mods is like downloading porn. At least that's what my friends tell me.
Just a heads up.

TES Nexus is a good place to go. You'll have to register a free account to get at anything bigger then 2MB or anything with ADULT content...

Also, an awesome that you WON'T find on TESN... Argonoids (they have an imitation Argonoid mod on TESN, but it's inferior to the REAL DEAL). See my profile pic? That's an Argonoid, and YOU WANT ONE!

Could you point interested souls in the direction of where we might pick up the argonoid mod? :)

So many hours spent. So many good times.

Morrowind, how I love thee.

Oblivion is a great game, though. I don't get all the hate. TES: III and IV are great - no need to choose.

Anyway OT (again :p): let me know how the link goes :)

Yeah... you should read the OP. It'll save you from embarassment xD

But I definitely agree with you that both games are awesome. I reckon Morrowind's superior by a handful of aspects, but y'know.

Nawww, http://devnull.sweetdanger.net/other.html

I just didn't bother linking to the specific page. All sorts of goodies: view distance enhancements, UI changes, changes to gathering and herbalism - you name it.
Um...
The only thing in there that isn't a graphics enhancement is the gathering herbs thingy...

I have Morrowind on Oblivion on my PC and I got them through steam - no matter what I do I cannot retexture the games. It seems the texture folder is non-existent so the guides online have brought me to dead ends. Did you get your games through Steam and do you know how to mod it? I'm very sorry to ask such a noob question, maybe you can't mod steam games which makes me a sad panda :(

I rather enjoy Oblivion Enhanced (or Modular O.E (M.O.E.).

Adds werewolves, the ability to become a lich, a vampire clan (with quests, obviously), a main quest delayer (you don't start in prison), a dremora race, levitation magic, mark and recall, weather changing staffs, realistic law enforcement, and a whole bunch more! All for the low low price of TOTALLY FREE.

Oh, and if you don't want some of em, they are modular so you can pick and choose which you want.

Just a heads up.
Downloading Oblivion mods is liteally downloading porn in some cases, lol.

I would heartily recommend the unofficial bug patch. Fixes most of the games bugs with quests.

I've got the original retail, look through your Program Files\Steam\steamapps\ folder until you find the Morrowind folder... it should be under Data Files in that folder.

See, here's the thing... Some would consider Argonoids, and other many other offerings from the Japanese side of the Mod scene, as, in the bluntest terms possible... child porn...

That's most of the reason you won't find Argonoids on TESN, and half of the reasons I would rather not give you the direct links on The Escapist.

Instead, I would suggest asking the fine folks on a certain image board that I am forbidden from mentioning by name. I'm sure you've heard of it.

for me, the only MUST HAVE mod is S.P.A.M.

Basically lets you set static values to the attribute increases, and has a system to automatically give you stat values based on what sort of class you play (gives you the ability to set your class as Combat/Magic, Magic/Stealth, Stealth/Combat, etcetcetc)

Hmm well it's been a while since of played oblivion so I can't remember what mods I used to use very well.
As already stated tes nexus is the place to go. If you can deal with the server issues and wade thru the porn and skimpy armour mods it's a good site.
I wouldn't recommend diving straight in and screwing with the gameplay to much until you've got the feel for vanilla experience tho there are a number of overhauls on the site.

Unofficial patch is pretty much a necessity http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=5296

Oblivion Script Extender (OBSE) is a requirement of allot of mods, especially those that make gameplay changes http://obse.silverlock.org/

Mod manger helps you install and manage mods http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=2097

Command Mounts and Horses...well lets you command mounts and horses obviously. I would recommend it unless you?re wanting to use some custom mounts rather than vanilla horses anyway
http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=27957

Better cities is good, It makes the world feel allot more populated and gives each city more character . Most the cities in the game look pretty empty without it. Although it's a big download, can be a real performance killer especially in the imperial city and can cause allot of glitches so don't get it unless you have a very good PC. If you decide to use it be sure to back everything up, be very careful installing it and be sure to read all the instructions. http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=16513

Deadly reflexes is pretty good for enhancing combat http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=8273

The lost spire is very awesome quest mod tho it is meant to be a challenge http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=12997

So yeah...that,s all I can think of for now

I play relatively mod-less. You'll find that with horses and fast travel available via the map, travel mods are relatively worthless.

It's essential that you get the Knights of the Nine and Shivering Isles expansions, though. Really, I'd rank Shivering Isles with Bloodmoon as far as epicness is concerned.

I've got both of them, and I've been messing about in the Shivering Isles a bit, that's some awesome stuff that's around there.

So far I'll be getting Deadly Reflex and OBSE, any other suggestions?

[sub]Blade and Blunt are the only two weapon skills? Preposterous...[/sub]

I have both the PC and 360 versions of this game. And I cannot tell you how much I love the 360 version over the PC version. I installed a couple mods to see if it would help, and it totally backfired. I don't know why, but something about the PC version just doesn't sit right with me.

I can't make any. Again, I play relatively mod-less (Actually, aside from a class pack, I really don't use them at all)

[sub]And marksman. Bear in mind that you don't have secondary skills anymore, though. Also, magic doesn't fail anymore.[/sub]
