People of the Escapist, I have just recently read the Spider-man storyline "One More Day". I'd left Spidey behind for a while, and decided to bring myself up to speed with his stuff. Of everyone in the mess that was Civil War, he seemed to act the most in-character, albiet that says very little, so I was relatively happy. Then came this.

Good sodding God, what was Quesada thinking?! For those of you who don't know, this storyline, mandated by the man I plan to kill, involved Aunt May being shot by the Kingpins hitmen. No-one in the Marvel universe, including the most powerful wizard and various people whose powers basically translate to "Heals shit" could figure out how to fix a bullet wound. So does Spidey accept the death, having done all he reasonably could, in what could have been an emotionally touching storyline?

Fuck no, he sells his marriage to the devil for her life and his secret identity! He now lives in Aunt Mays basement, no-one knows who he is anymore, he and Mary Jane apparently had a messing break-up, having never gotten married and he is basically back to being a huge loser, because that way he's "relatable". Oh, and Harry Osbourne is alive again for some reason.

To re-iterate, what the hell was he thinking?! Thoughts, opinions? I'm genuinely mystified.

This just reminds me a bit of the whole "clone saga" storyline from a few years back. Google it if you don't know what I'm talking about, it's too convoluted for me to try to write the whole shebang here. But what will probably happen is that after this goes on for a bit, someone will come to their senses, and it will be passed off as an alternate reality, or it's all in his head, o a giant chipmunk from space is screwing with the timeline, or somethiung. Point being that, give it a while, and it will inevitably be put right.

I agree, especially in light of Quesada's quote about spidey revealing his identity...."No magic retcons". The fuck? I do believe having the devil alter reality to make it so no one knows Peter Parker is Spider-Man IS A FUCKING MAGIC RETCON!

And Quesada has always been anti-marriage. He believes that the Spider-Man comics have gone downhill since he tied the knot. Better to be in his swinging bachelor days, he probably thinks. Did Quesada EVER READ Parker's "Swinging Bachelor Days"? His life sucked! He was always trying to get into a stable relationship, no nailing every chick that moved. Hell, if you actually read between the lines, Parker has slept with exactly 3 women: Betty Brant, Gwen Stacy (most likely), and Mary Jane. That, is NOT a swinging bachelor.

And why exactly does a genetically altered, web shooting, wall-clinging, SINGLE superhero seem more relatable than a genetically altered, web shooting, wall-clingling MARRIED superhero? The audience is NOT going to personally relate to him, Quesada. And considering how the vast majority of spidey fans are older and in the age to be married, maybe...just maybe we might relate to that more than you would think.


Oh yeah, and DOCTOR FUCKING STRANGE can't heal a bullet wound. Side note, he was a surgeon before he learned the mystic arts. Apparently neither can Elixer, the X-Man who's powers translate into HEAL ANY FUCKING WOUND AND CAN BRING BACK THE DEAD.

They went from 52 to making countdown to final crisis. The former was awesome, and DC Editor-in-chief hated it, and bragged about Countdown being 52 done right. Countdown had even more characters acting stupid, pointless deaths throughout the entire series, one of the worst turns to evil in history, and was so bad that the author of the event it was leading into personally said to just ignore it.

Oh god i just finished reading that giant mess last night, it was the most horrendous piece of shit storyline every told. Clearly the writers had absolutely no respect for any of the marvel characters otherwise they would'nt have killed 2/3s of them. Thankfully they are bringing Ultimate Spider Man back, but that still doesnt forgive them for Ultimatum.

anyways the marriage of Peter Parker and Mary Jane was one of the biggest regrets that Stan Lee had, he never wanted them to get married but they did anyways, i think this was a way to fix that
