Since all of my recommendations have already been listed, I'll simply package 'em all in a neat little list.

1. Event Horizon
2. The Mist
3. Sunshine
4. Pandorum
5. Pitch Black
6. Predator (and Predators)
7. Dark City

I haven't seen 'Cube' yet, but I hear great things.
Cube is a pretty good movie... The sequels are bad and make no logical sense whatsoever.

In Cube 2 if the plan of the evil organization was to kill these people... Why didn't just, you know, killed those people? Same giant plot hole for Cube Zero, makes no sense you create a giant structure just to throw people and there for them to die. Just shoot them and get rid of the corpses, much safer, much faster and much cheaper. Hell, the Cube 2 protagonist survives just to get shot in the end.

You wanna go old school and see a truly bizarre Sci Fi Horror movie with Joanie from Happy Days, check out Galaxy of Terror. For what it is, I thought it a blast.
Golly. Whole movie on youtube

I watched that not long ago. The special effects and sets are actually really good for a B Movie. It's a bit rapey though.

Just a bit?
If I remember right a worm raped the blond crewwoman to death, not sure why she died, but hey, that's a thing that happened in this movie.
I wouldn't recommend in any "serious" list, but it's a fun film.

And since we are being silly, what about Prince of Darkness from John Carpenter? I say it fits Horror Sci-fi.

That reminds me of John Carpenter's In The Mouth Of Madness. I really enjoyed it, although it did pretty badly when it came out.

The Cube is a good Sci-fi horror movie. Very claustrophic, character focused and uses a relatively small budget rather well. I'm also going to say Event Horizon like the sheep I am. Baaaaaa
I found it hard to take Cube seriously after David Hewlitt, Nicole De Boer and Wayne Robson showed up. It's hard to get scared when Mike from the Red Green Show gets his face melted with acid. It's just funny.

It's still a good movie though. Never saw the sequels.

I'm going to suggest some lesser known movies:

Without Warning - this movie was the inspiration for Predator, Jack Palance and Martin Landau are pretty awesome in it

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0081764/?ref_=nm_flmg_act_44

Xtro - weird and gross but if you can get past that, it's really good

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0086610/?ref_=fn_al_tt_1

The Faculty - Frodo fights off an alien invasion in a high school setting, one of the better Robert Rodriguez movies

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0133751/

The Hidden - The Terminator with aliens who take over human bodies instead of cyborgs

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093185/?ref_=nv_sr_2

Virus - a signal from outer space hits a ship and turns it's parts and crew into deadly robots

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0120458/?ref_=nv_sr_1

Leviathan - clearly inspired by The Thing, a virus found on a sunken Soviet submarine turns people into weird and dangerous creatures

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0097737/?ref_=tt_rec_tt

That's all i can think of at the moment.

James Cameron had a part in this doing Production Design. Roger Coreman flick.

Horror movies and sexuality were kinda weird back then. I think that's when all the kids about to have per-marital sex got killed. Good joke about it in the Jason in outer space movie mentioned in this thread.

Wow, these are great, obscure movies. I didn't know that about Without Warning and the Predator influence. I've never seen that one; I thought you were talking about the TV movie with the same name from 1994. It stars the mom from Malcolm in the Middle and I thought it was GREAT for a TV movie.
I may have to hunt down Xtro now.

And I remember Leviathan now. It fell into that classic trap where one studio makes a movie and someone else copies it.

A Bug's Life: Antz / Deep Impact: Armageddon / Leviathan: Deep Star Six
