MW2 ass kissing?

Went to IGN and read the MW2 review and saw the lovely 9.5 rating it got from their reviewers and it just got me wondering if the media is just kissing ass or if producers are just paying the media to say whatever they want...

I've already gotten issues with connecting to IWNet too, which just thrills me...

and this guy's argument about the game setting the matches up for you and making it simple is just stupid... How hard is it to scroll through the server list to find a server with low ping? It's written on the right hand side... u have to be a moron to not be able to locate a low ping server (or on dial-up).

EDIT: No, I'm not a Modern Warfare 2 fanboy. I don't even like Call of Duty in general.

Critics are bribed and "fans" always hate. That's why it has a rating of 87 for critic and 20 for user on metacritic for pc. 94 for critic and 59 for user for PS3 and 360. Or maybe its just a typical, overhyped game where fans have the highest expectations and critics have the lowest.

I agree with InternetKraken, my brother plays online and he loves it, and I played offline and I love it, just because your opinion is different doesn't make it a bad game, just makes it a bad game for you.

Internet Kraken is right. It is a bloody good game, just like the first MW. I don't get why everybody is so obsessed with multiplayer anyway. It's fun, but the campaign and spec ops completely destroys multiplayer any day!

But then again, in the first one they seem to be using 24 plot devices, and I noticed another at the beginning of MW2... An ACI module having to be obtained, a Russian Ultranationalist (COD's Zakeav & 24's Gradinko) in line with a middle east rebel (COD's Khaled Al Asad & 24's just plain old Al Asad)... sounds like season 6 to me.

I wouldn't be surprised, with all the hype it got, that the scores have been artificially inflated a bit.

The only problem with your theory is that I don't like it. But I do understand as to why other people enjoy it.

I don't care about MW2, from what I've seen, It's pretty much the same as CoD4 with better graphics, new guns, new maps(that probably aren't balanced), a better co-op mode, and a shorter campaign. But everything that was wrong with CoD4 is still there. I happened to be really good at CoD4,5... but they were more addicting than fun. After i got 10th prestige, 60,000 kills and 2.8 k/d, I realized i had just waster 25 days of my life. I still don't see why they're not making trophies for competitive multiplayer... no one cares what you've accomplished in single player or co-op.

I expect inflation. It may or may not be that good, but this developer is giving his or her (probably his, I go on IGN a lot) opinion of a game. If they said 10, I wouldn't complain about it, I'd go buy the game and see if it's deserving of that score if I wanted to play it.

If I didn't want to play it, then I'd ignore it. I know foul play and inflated scores are possible (see: GameTrailers) but it doesn't mean when a hyped game gets a nice score that something's up.

The game is really good. And even though the single player is short there is still alot of content you get with the game. Spec ops is only behind Borderlands as best co-op of the year imo, and the multilplayer is great too. MW2 has become the new Halo in terms of being a cool game to hate. The only thing about that IGN review that was wierd to me was that they gave the graphics a 10 out of 10, the graphics look kinda dated imo.

I think that it was slightly inflated due to hype, especially the PC version. In my opinion it was really good, but not excellent. Certainly not Game of the Year material.
I thought that the game was about on par with Halo: ODST. Maybe a bit ahead for being edgier. But it had a substantial 11 points over the ODST score on metacritic. The high scores for the PC version of MW2 was bad though, and it seems like a lot of sites just copied the console reviews over. I don't understand how a game as heavily tilted towards the multiplayer style as MW2 is can score in the 90s from almost half of the reviewers with a mediocre multiplayer. And that's including spec ops; without spec ops, MW2 would have been a clear step backwards for the franchise.

This argument is invalid because a game can't simply suck. People can believe that a game sucks, and they're entitled to their opinion. But if someone thinks a game is good, they can't possibly wrong, because it's their opinion.

The problem here is that some people just don't like Modern Warfare 2, and some people do. These two groups don't seem to understand each other, causing all these bullshit flame wars.
