here's my source. Yes I know it's commentary, yes I know he swears a lot, yes I know I'm jumping a gun a little!

Ok so I've subscribed to this guy and apparently he so far, that I know, has a good, (possibly) legal video of MW2 footage of multiplayer. Now as I'm hyperventilating just from pure excitement seeing how MW2 comes out in a few hours I notice something. This map is a complete rip off! It exactly like Belot (or something of that spelling) of the Call of Duty 2 Mulitplayer. It's the same map with same positions just tweaked a little. I'm actually stunned by IW. I don't understand why they would do this. Then again they did take off dedicated servers on PC. Also they probably felt lazy. I'm starting to get worried that some of these maps are just "flash backs" to previous maps. To those of you that aren't getting it good on yeah. But for those of you that are getting it what are your comments?

edit-WARNING SPOILER OF THE GAME DO NOT WATCH IF YOU DON'T WANT TO SPOIL THE MOMENT!!!!

Um, yeah, they like to re-use maps that were popular in previous games (a la chinatown). For the most part, the maps are original though.

actually belot wasn't that much of a favorite map great for sniping in CoD2. But there were better maps.

A lot of developers remake maps for future games. Infinity Ward actually did this with Chinatown in number four, it isn't much of a big deal.

Oh, dammit. I may have to rethink my boycott, that looked like a lot of fun.

Aw hell, I'll hold on as long as I can.

EDIT: I just realized: when did my boycott go from "They're taking out a feature that's the core of my enjoyment, I won't have as much fun as I could, I won't get it" to "damn, that game looks awesome, but I said I'd boycott, so I will." ?

Infinity Ward had a poll to see which popular maps they would bring back in MW2. Evidently the map your talking about was popular enough to come back.

Why fix whats not broken?

So? I've seen this a lot in games. It makes life a lot easier for game designers and can sometimes be fun with sequels. Playing a match in your favorite old map and experimenting how it works with new gameplay mechanics...

On a related note...When did Ali G start playing Call of Duty?

Yeah, because if there's anything that shooters have taught us, it's never, ever, EVER give players their favorite maps from previous games. Ever. We all groaned in frustration when Blood Gulch returned to Halo 2, and man, why on earth did Epic Games bring Fuel Depot back from Gears of War 1? Stupid, stupid...

Like I said before Belot wasn't that big of a map (in popularity)! Toujane now that's a map that is popular!!! Perfect for any game mode and never gets boring.

ooohh I love that phrase sadly many people also don't know "don't toy with what works well" sadly that ruins a few games...

OT: I like that they are bringing back the good'ns

Here is the question you should be asking. Will that 60 bucks give me more enjoyment spent elsewhere than playing a dedicated serverless MW2?

Hey, guess what?

Halo games have done this since the first one. So has every other game series with multiplayer out there. It's a popular game design trend to remake old maps: it gives vets of the old games a nostalgia rush, and if the maps were good the first time around, odds are they still are good with some updated graphics.

It happens, if a map is popular then I cant see why the wouldnt tweek it and put it in the new game. seems like a reasonable idea to me!!

Oh and this guys videos are horrible... did he just snort into the mic :|

Heaps of devs remake maps in games, mainly because of their popularity. Like Coagulation/Blood Gulch in the Halo series.

Shame Valve messed up Assault in Counter Strike: Source though; that was the best level in the original.

And I'm still waiting for Halo 3 DLC with Headlong. It's the ultimate map to play with your friends.
