Long story short: someone's kidney decided to take a vacation and I agreed (like the idiot I am) to make them food that wouldn't immediately kill them.

I discovered a cabbage.

I excavated a crock pot.

They can't have salt, red meat, canned vegetables/soup, or tomatoes (amongst a list of other things).

This thing will likely cook on a low heat for many hours to pull out some vestige of flavor from the great beyond.

And I have cooked things before, so the actual act of making food is not going to be put into question.

What I need advice on:

What should I put in with the cabbage (and probably potatoes) to make the dish less bland and pathetic?

Garlic and onions might do some good. Otherwise I'm not entirely sure. Good luck, though :3

I'd go with turkey as the meat, very low fat/salt, get some leaks in there (goes well with 'taters).........red/green peppers?

Okay, I ended up visiting the grocer and getting a bunch of ingredients.

The crock pot has cabbage, potatoes, carrots, celery, corn (from frozen package), leeks, fresh garlic cloves, and I found a bag of dehydrated black beans last night - hydrating a cup of those and throwing them in over everything else. The pot also has olive oil and white wine.

Spices I'm currently using are cayenne, basil, black pepper, and red peppers.

Someone has since added a bunch of water to the mix... -- I am not amused... The stuff was supposed to make its own water... Oh well.

edit - if this all fails and it still turns out bland, I will put hot sauce on the table. =P

Seriously though, spices. SPIIIICEEEEES.

Oh, I see you already fixed your problem. Well, I'm not necessary anymore. I'll just... leave.

Don't worry, man. You made this thread whole. You're right, rooster sauce is the cure to all.
