My computer is screwed

As the title implies, my computer is rather screwed. There is a virus terrorizing me. It says every program is "unsafe". Claiming that it will harm my computer.
This creates an annoying situation where I can't run any antivirus scans or cleanups.

So what I need to know is this: Is there anyway to remove a virus without antiviral software? Short of a total wipe obviously.

And it has also installed it's own fake scanners which plague me with update requests.

Please help.

Edit: This virus is smart. It's blocking all security functions. Just thought you should know.

ok step one buy some deoderant and a lighter step 2 attack the lighter to deoderant step 3 burn the computer now the virus is gone (along with the rest of your computer)

Just do a system restore to last week or so-- that'll clear it up. If you're running windows, you can find it in the control panel.

If you are able to get hold of the name of the trojan or virus, you may very well be able to uninstall it or delete it from your registry edit folder.

Safe mode keeps the virus from booting up at start-up. Once you boot into safe mode, you should have no problem setting your operating system back a week or two, when the virus hadn't yet reared its disgusting head.

If that doesn't work, you may have to wipe.

sounds like too much effort imo, its better to just use system restore to prevent any futher damage/stolen information

Yes... but sometimes the only way to get rid of something that nasty is through the regedit. I had that issue with "XP Police Antivirus" a year or so ago. It just randomly installed itself on my computer and it was a rather nasty trojan. I kept uninstalling it, but it wouldn't get lost, I then tried deleting it in my registry edit. Had no issues after that.

It's in the "System and security" tab, under the "Action Center" section.

Safe Mode > Spyware Doctor [http://www.pctools.com/spyware-doctor/](Or similar) > Search > Manually remove.

If you have a back up... just restore from there on.

Smash it with a hammer or take it to a technician. I suggest the former.

i had that trojan or something similar. I fixed it by runing win xp in safemode with networking enabled then running anti-virus then. I have McAfee so i know thats one anti-virus that can block it (not helpful if you dont have it but probably cheaper than a new pc)

I am currently being pestered by a trojan (it's name I forget). Getting rid of it consists of me waiting for and AVG alert to pop up, mashing print screen, pasting it into paint, looking at the directory, hacking my way into folders I can't have access to, and deleting the file, only to have it reapply itself in the recycler, causing more strife.

OT: I would say a system restore back to a time you knew you didn't have it.

i had a similar problem like that but it was actually a problem with an update of my anti virus software (Bullguard) which may i ad use bit defender, what happened was after bit defender was updated at this particular time, the update conflicted with all 64 bit operating systems running windows 7 and vista, so i had to turn of the anti-virus, reinstall it and update it, then do a system restore, and i was lucky i only lost a couple of programmes, some people had their entire computer wiped as the anti-virus kept popping up saying every programme was a trojan fake alert 5 or something. Anyway good luck with getting that sorted
