My concept for a "PMOG" game

Hello, fellow Escapists. Quite recently, I was introduced to a game known as "The Nethernet". Basically, it is a Firefox add-on in which you passively play a game. What you do is browse websites in order to earn points, and use things such as "Awsm!" cards to leave money behind for people(I'm leaving three on this page for anyone who does play. =D), crates in which you stash tools and points for other players to find, mines that will trip people up and take their money, and portals, which will transport people from your current page to another page of your choosing. There are more items, as well, but I'm not here to review this game.
I would, however, recommend it to anyone who's interested.
EDIT: Also, this website seems to have a lot of mines on it. Just a heads-up.

Anyway! This game got me thinking about other browser overlay type things. I was taking about it in the Nethernet's built-in IRC with some other folks who play, who were quick to codename it "Crazzeenet"(Honestly, they came up with it, not me.) The basic concept is that the internet's tubes become clogged, due to saboteurs, one "Faction", I suppose you could call it, and they fill up over the course of a few minutes. If a tube on a particular website(Every unique URL will have one, for example, one for Warcry and one for The Escapist) becomes clogged and is left unchecked for too long, it will burst and the website will become unavailable for an hour or so, depending on the "size" of the tube(will explain that later.) To free the tubes up, the other team, whose name I've yet to think of, will have to get at least one person there to unclog the tube in question.
The size of a tube depends on the website's traffic. The more visitors, the wider the tube needs to be to accommodate them, right?
To clog the larger tubes, saboteurs will need to level up. They can do this by using certain items to block the other team's tools from use, or by clogging small tubes. The "good guy" team would level up by unclogging tubes, helping to repair tubes, and using certain items to make the saboteurs' cloggers fail.

The idea is a work in progress, and I am in no way capable of making an add-on. Basically what I'm putting this thread up for is to ask for ideas on it, thoughts, and maybe even some people who can help me to build this and make it a reality.
Thank you very much for reading, I would really appreciate your thoughts on this. ^.^

EDIT: Oh, come on, guys, please talk to me? Even if you think it's stupid, tell me so. I'm looking for feedback so that I don't end up learning to make a Firefox app for no reason.

More stuff I just thought of: Factions would be switchable, if you got bored of being a good guy, you could be a saboteur, although your level in "good guy" and your level in "saboteur" would be separate.
Money/points to buy cloggers, repair tools, and uncloggers would be gained through websurfing and gifts.

Tech Team FTW!

Couldn't you just play any fps with a sabotage componant and yell about tubes while playing it?

"Squad A, Move up to flank the front Tube while the rest of us take down the rear Tube!"

Pahaha, clever, but that's not exactly the same. A PMOG, by definition, means that it is played passively. You don't need to be constantly absorbed in the game, you're doing a lot of other stuff at the same time, in this case surfing the webz.

So your game consists of taking down websites for the people playing it depending on if other people are there instead?

Fun.

Yeah, kind of like that. =P
Like, with the Nethernet, Google is pretty much inaccessible, it's a minefield. It would be sort of like that, except to a greater extreme.

Inetresting idea, but in my opinion the "site unavailable" penalty is going to put off potential players, as it sort of transcends the "passive" designation and can become a problem outside the game.

I'd suggest that, instead of the site being unavailable, it would load at a very slow rate - the closer the tube is to being full, the slower. Alternately, the site could be made to display in faded-out colour - the fuller the tube, the more washed out, with maximum barely readable.

Ooh--That would probably work rather well. That would be quite a turn-off, I suppose, but the loading thing would probably even kinda make sense, since the tube you travel through is broken...
Alternitavely, washing out the colours would be interesting as well.
