Title: Brightsburg
Genre: horror, adventure, action
Plot: (LONG)
In Brightsburg the elderly are not well taken care of. They mostly sit in their home away from the rest of the town that is so full of life and naiveity. One day an old man, unable to take the neglect of his grandchildren anymore decides to commit suicide. But before he hangs himself Satan appears to him. He says that the way the elderly have been treated is cruel and unjust and that he wishes to help them. So he offers to switch the souls of all the young residents with the elderly. The only catch is that they elderly must serve him whenever he needs them. The old man goes to the rest of the people in the home and they all agree in favor of the deal. So the old man strikes a bargin with the Devil.
The souls are switched and the new-elderly are all placed in seduced comas so they can't interfere with the new-young's fun. After a few days however the Devil decides to act on his part of the bargin and sends his demons to possess all of the new-young townsfolk.
With the entire town under his command the Devil builds a Centerpiece to control all of the demons. Otherwise they would just cause choas and destroy their hosts. Over time the newly possessed townsfolk are forced to reporduce to produce bastard childeren for the Devil's army. These Hellspawn are kept in elaborate underground caves and systems to be hidden from public view and keep a snese of normalcy amongst the town.

You awake after a car crash and stumble into town and become suspicious of all the oddiites of the townspeople. Why won't they stop similing? Why are they always happy? Why is everything so clean? Why can't you help but feel a subtle errieness about the place?
Over time you learn the truth and resolve to stop the Devil. Along the way you will fight the townsfolk, the town itself, and the Hellspawn lurking beneath the surface.
Upon reaching the Centerpiece you are about to destroy it when the Devil appears in front of you as a small child. He warns that destroying the Centerpiece will result in "unfavorable circumstances".

It is here that the final truth is revealed. That you yourself are a new-young. That in fact, you are the old man from the beginning of the story. But when you were possesed you fought back. So much so that you were able to gain control of your body for a while. You tried to leave town and get help but the demon in you struggled to gain power again. The result was a car crash and a near-death experience that exorcised the demon from your body. You stumbled back into town with total amnesia and eventually found yourself here.

The player then has three options depending on what they have to stop the Devil. The player can:
1-Destroy the Centerpiece
2-Reverse the Centerpiece
3-Cure the Centerpiece

Upon:
(1) All the controls over the demons are released and they cause choas and burn the town resulting in the destruction of their hosts and the death of all the townfolk excpet you
(2) Reversing the Centerpiece will result in exorcising all the demons but the souls are not switched back
(3) Curing the Centerpiece will exorcise all the demons and switch the souls back, including yours. And you will be resolved to live as you did before.

No matter the choice the player will be put into a bad light for either:
(1) Killing everyone
(2) Leaving the naive young people trapped forever in a vegatative state
(3) Going back to the way things were with no one remembering and you suffering as you did before.
(4) The same ending as (3) but there is a small cutscene where you are the only one who remembers and commit suicide as a result. A small child watches you do it from outside, smiling.

////That's about it. If you have any questions, comments, critisim I would be glad to have it. Thanks!////

This sounds really creepy and awesome. The 4th ending is the best one if you asked me. Will the combat be melee, or ranged, and what selection of weapons do you get?

Hmmm... intriguing. I'd have to say one of the more important things for this game would be music/sounds. I know it seems a bit odd, but the way you describe it, it sounds like you want an incredibly atmospheric game. Well, one of the best ways to set the tone is with music.

HUD-less would be important, too. Think Dead Space.

I'm thinking that the combat would be mostly shooting with melee to fall back on. This is because there will be a gun shop but since the town is so "perfect" it's not well kept and stocked. So when the guns run out you have to rely on melee. This would include using bats, crowbars, anything you can find. Although the supernatural is represented in the game I think that using spells would be a bit much and might take away the feeling of helplessness.

ALSO, as far as guns go. You won't be getting something like a rocket launcher or crazy like that. Mainly pistols and a very basic rifle.

----------------------------------------------------

I think the music would revolve around happy 1920 songs while on the surface. That way if enforces the creepiness of the constant happiness and makes the game even more unsetteling.
When underground I think that there would be little to no music and instead rely on small sounds of enmies scuttling around or leaking pipes, rats, etc. That way the only real music the player hears is the one linked to the surface and creepiness of Brightsburg. While facing the darkness of under the city however, they are confronted with silence to make them feel even more alone and on edge.

I think the best potential for combat would be Condemned style with guns being few and far between, plus the melee would add a lot of intensity to the whole experience. The plot sounds great by the way.

Well, it started out sounding like a mix between Alone in The Dark/ RE4 / and Silent Hill.

But then.....it got good. I like this idea.

If you're a developer making this, make sure to listen to Meatloaf and Hallow.

i like the idea remember to concentrate on the amnesia part as it is the not knowing when or where you are is a important part of suspence, also as i asume you are a indy maker remember to slowly build story not jusrt through cutscenes and text boxes but also through dialogue, on a side not it sounds like a very intresting idea for a story and though i have no real experiance in animation if you need some help in enviorment then i would be happy to help create it (i have experiance with CG and need a new project to work on)
