Minecraft's world is estimated to be 8 times the size of the earths, I thought I had colonized a relativly large chunk of it when I decided to venture off into the distance with nothing on me just to recon the sorrunding area near one of my bases. I climbed over the nearest hill top and simply felt my breath leave me. Facing me, sitting there for what must have been miles, was a desert. Infinite and unyeilding, sitting there staring at me. I quietly slipped back down the hill and retreated into my base for the remainder of the day.
So my question to you Escapist, have you ever been simply awestruck by a game? Recount your tales for us.
This pretty much sums it up for me as well, such a shame that you didn't get that same feeling with New Vegas.Melian said:First time I stepped outside the vault in Fallout 3. I mean, it got diminished over time, but that first glance at the desolate landscape... Wow.
HELLZ YES.Krantos said:Red Dead Redemption. Watching the sun come up over the mountains, slowly lightening the vast plain in front of me. Wow.
Also, when you first enter Mexico after the mission on the river. Beautiful.
I have a system of nether gates that all are very near one another in the nether, but lead to several different 10 by 10 skybases, each is set up in just such a way that I can see it from a fair bit away. That and the hill is only a few 30 to 40 blocks from my most recent entrenchment.Quiet Stranger said:silver wolf009 said:I am simply awesturck Escapist, just awestruck. I must ask you, how the hell do you find your way back to your base? Do you just make a new one? I have these problems all the time.
Shadow of The Colossus, definitely, especially when you come upon the huge lake.
That game is awesome, I have long missed a grappling hook in games and with a parachute, it only become better. And yes, the world is amazing, I really like the gentlemen's club, that's just casually flies around...AndrewC said:A fairly recent game, Just Cause 2.
Casually parachuting around, I get to the top of a nearby mountain and turn around and get punched in the face by this spectacular world.
Those eyes haunts me in my nightmares...Irridium said:Seeing the first colossus in Shadow of the Colossus. Then climbing it, and staring at everything around me. Birds were circling overhead, the colossus was walking around, trying to get me off.
Just... holy shit that was amazing.
That was pretty great now that you mention it. And I also remember thinking to myself that Virmire would make a great tropical getaway if it weren't for the Geth trying to shoot at you.Echer123 said:I remember some of the locales in ME 1&2 being beautiful, but the one that sticks out is the wrecked ship on the overhang. Just the ruined-ness of it and the lonely red light blinking in the distance...
