You know that movie Shrek, the one that came out like 2 years ago? It came out in fucking 2001, eleven fucking years ago!! I just thought I'd check for a laugh, I was shocked!

You're telling me.

Toy Story started Pixar's career. That was seventeen years ago. Comparing the CGI and animation in it to Toy Story 3 is like a world of difference.

I have an old memory stick I used for primary school, 10MB. That was actually a lot back then.

This puppy holds 256GB. It's been a little over 10years later...

More good than bad, surely.
The Internet has made globalization so much easier, and the video game industry rakes in millions annually.

I repeat, for better or for worse. :/
And don't get me started on the Internet.

My parents first house didn't have an inside toilet. Also, there are still cobbled lanes in my home town. Gotta love the north.

Just think 5 years ago Spider-Man 3 was released, and now we already have a reboot.

My, how things have cha-... Oh wait.

OT: When I was still in high school nobody had cellphones.

10 years ago, most families only had one phone in the house. It was shaped like a box and about the size of your head (Well, ours was anyway)

I read Julius Caesar's writings about the war in Gaul, and then it struck me: Isn't it amazing that we don't just have TV documentaries and pop science books about that age, but also descriptions about it from people who actually experienced it themselves?

To think that a week ago, the Off Topic discussion wouldn't be flooded with drowning polls. How things change!

1 month ago, I was in Minnesota enjoying the outdoors
15 months ago, my beloved cat of 16 years was still alive.
34 months ago, I had two more grandparents.
60 months ago, I got my Associates Degree
111 months ago, I graduated high school and started looking for work
129 months ago, I lost my virginity
135 months ago, I built my first personal computer from scratch (that I alone owned)
140 months ago, gas was $1.54/gallon (Chicago)
198 months ago, I was playing an old Tanks game on a B-drive at my friends' birthday party
209 months ago, I fixed my first computer
210 months ago, I accidentally broke my first computer
227 months ago, my dad recorded the premier episode of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine on VHS
228 months ago, I beat Zelda: A Link to the Past for the first time
239 months ago, I attended my first funeral
264 months ago, I ordered food for myself for the first time (a chipper sandwich from Dairy Queen)
275 months ago, I saw my first movie in a theater (Ghostbusters 2)
303 months ago, I saw my sister for the first time
315 months ago, I played Metroid at my babysitter's for the first time

Time sure does fly.

And in that time, I've watched computer tech soar, music undergo several phases and then converge into sameness, people I know and love change due to aging accidents or both.
I think I'm going to be one of the last of those who can remember life before computers were household appliances.

Sometime before that, cell phones were just house phones designed to be carried in suitcases.
Actually, they looked like house phones connected to a suitcase, and the suitcase was the battery, unless we have different ones in mind.

I remember when I was a kid, MS-DOS was the operating system on our computer at home, and to do anything on it, you had to write in commands yourself to open programs. Things have changed, for the better when it comes to computers. And to think all this change has happened in such a short time... I mean, I'm not old!

I know right I remember just 5-6 years ago I was using a 256mb key in highschool now anything smaller than a few gigs is barely on the market.

And I'm old enough to look at a place and say "That was a field once" or "That was a Blockbuster once". And I'm only 16.
Wow, I thought that I was the only teenager that felt like he was 60 whenever I said "That used to a McDonald's" or "Where the hell did this sub-divison come from?"

OT: I remember getting scarred from watching Aliens with my dad. Now, I can take a lot of disturbing material that I couldn't when I was 7.

To think that, 20 years ago, people's messages to eachother were physically carried between their locations by a stranger.
And yet we can still only wipe our arses with paper after taking a dump. The mind boggles.

OT: Well, I guess in theory, looking back 2000 years in the past 2000 years from today will be somewhat easier and more revealing then looking back 2000 years into the past today is.

So that's... basically just a thing I made up.
