Looks like My Little Pony Friendship is Magic is finally ending. Tonight at 7 pm central the 3 part finale will air. Its been 9 seasons of magical horses but I for one am ready for them to move onto something else, if for no other reason then to have a less wonky continuity. But I still enjoyed our horse women as they journeyed from the start of their adventure to where we are now, they might have had a few seasons without as many top tier episodes but no season has been bad. Although it is kinda hard to go back and watch season 1 since that was made back when Hasbro was trying for some sweet aimed at young children tax dollars, yet even then its got some fantastic episodes.

EDIT: Welp, its done. Damn they really stuck the landing, they even managed to have some quite good action in the lead up and the epilogue episode was fantastic too.

EDIT AGAIN: Youtube links to the episodes, watch them now since no telling how long they will be up.

I was kinda into this series for the first three seasons but that was mostly just because it was a fad back then. It was a cute cartoon. I don't know if the later seasons hold up and I'm not gonna watch 6 seasons of this to find out but hey, it's actually gonna end, how about that. You know, the popularity of this show really exemplifies the innocent optimism we still had at the beginning of the decade. Not much of that still left.

You actually ended it on probably the weakest season. Season 4 is good, season 5 is amazing, season 6 is fantastic, season 7 is really good, season 8 is quite good and season 9 is very good.

Yes, Season 3 being pretty weak was probably the main reason why I dropped the show there. I might check out the later seasons but most of my familiarity with the more recent seasons comes from a YouTube channel called DWK who does recaps that take the piss out of them. I imagine I'm enjoying those more than I'd enjoy the actual episodes.

Heh yeah, I quite enjoy those vids also. Really hes only had one that was a miss, the rest tend to be pretty golden. I would certainly recommend checking out more of it, netflix has almost all the episodes. (don't think they added season 9 yet)

...why is Bon Bon looking at Lyra so disapprovingly there? If anything, Lyra's the one who has the right to be angry.

Cause the fandom's view is that Lyra is wacky and Bonbon is the 'straight-mare' of the two.

Same.
I will probably hit up people from the fandom i still remember, and watch it for old times' sake. I will also likely have no idea what's happening and who all the merchandisingcharacters introduced since are.

I might try and catch this. I was a big fan of the show when it aired, though I dropped off from it mainly because my avenue of watching it went away. But I never disliked it.

I'll be very, very fascinated to see how it all ends.

Its all on netflix, plus there are other means to see it on certain sites. But it ended really well, I'm not using to shows sticking the landing that well. Really good finale.

While I like the series, I keep getting the sinking suspicion that the show has been leaning towards pandering to kids for the past few seasons now...

Still it's probably good that the show is coming to an end so that it doesn't go on forever...

Uuuuuuugh, I still need to actually watch seasons 6 and beyond... But I dunno, the issues that came from Season 3 kinda bummed me out really bad, and I think I just got tired of things by season 5. But many people tell me the later seasons are amazing. What to do...

Well, its all on netflix, seems like a good show to watch before going to sleep.

The "straight mare" is the secret agent who lied about her identity for years?

...okay then. 0_0

I don't remember there being much innocent optimism around then. I haven't lived in what I've considered to be an optimistic world since 2001.

And thus ends the 2010s as defined by My Little Pony Friendship is Magic, and Game of Thrones.
At least MLP ends well and sticks the landing
But still these 2 shows defined the television of the 2010s both Live Action and Animation.
GoT yes, MLP, not sure. I think MLP's an example of trends in animation (more focus on continuity and character development, plus writing that can invest adults), but I wouldn't argue it set those trends itself.

Eh, look forward to G5 and the season 10 comic series (yes, both are things).

I stopped watching during season 8. Similar in the sense that I began to lose interest after season 5. I can't really call season 6-8 amazing, but they don't really register in my mind apart from Starlight's arc over season 6.

Well considering the fandom view is that Lyra is a mare who has a fascination with a fictional species that has never existed before in Equestria, possibly bordering on the "THEY TOTALLY EXISTED" levels, with a potential near fetishistic love of one of their limbs (i.e. HANDS), yes. Bonbon is, comparatively, the straight mare.
