I starting playing Minecraft again today. The last time I had played it was maybe a month ago.
Sadly, there won't be any screenshots because I don't know how to take screenshots in Minecraft...

If you really don't want to read about my "Minecraft Adventure!", just skip to the last paragraph.

So, I started Minecraft and the first thing I did was punch down some trees. After punching down several trees, I decided to make a temporary base in the side of a mountain. When Night came, I ran quickly to my base. Unfortunately, I forgot to get coal, so I had to stand in the dark until morning came.

When morning came, I quickly made a wooden pick axe and went out to get some coal. I got enough coal to make 32 torches, which was all that I needed at the time.
After I made the torches, I went back to my temporary base and put one torch on the wall. I wanted to make some stone tools, so I started to dig further into the mountain. While I was digging into the mountain, I found a bit of coal and iron. After I dug out the last of the coal and iron, I thought that maybe there was more coal and iron beneath me, so I started to dig down.

I didn't dig STRAIGHT down. What kind of a mad man would dig straight down? I made stairs.

So, while I'm digging down, I come across a cave. I went in and explored.
I didn't see much at first, a little bit of coal here and there, but nothing to get too excited about.
I get to the end of the cave and I see this pit. I couldn't really see anything at the bottom of it because it was really dark, but that didn't stop me from going down it!

After I finally make it down to the bottom of the pit and a put a torch on the wall, I find that there's some dirt three blocks of coal. ONLY THREE! I was pretty sad. I was expecting maybe some iron or something.

After I dug out the coal, I decided to dig even deeper. "Maybe there's a cave below" I thought to myself. I dug one block of dirt from below
me [footnote]not DIRECTLY below me[/footnote] and it fell into what looked to be a bottomless pit.

I looked down the pit with my mouth wide open. I was lucky that I didn't fall down.
So, I did what any good adventurer would do, I went down the pit. (after I ran back up and made some ladders)

After I made it down to the bottom of the pit and I started exploring the cave, I found this room that was...strange.
The room was circular and symmetric.
There wasn't anymore of the cave left to explore, so I went in the middle of the circular room and start dug a mine shaft.

After a couple of minutes of digging, I found lava. I don't mean just a little bit of lava, I mean a huge tunnel of lava! Once I finally got down into the tunnel, I saw just how big the tunnel was. I could see a bit of red stone on the ceiling of the tunnel. I couldn't get it because I didn't have an iron pick axe.
Speaking of iron, I found quite a bit of iron down there. I didn't find as much iron as I did coal,[footnote] After explore most of the caves and tunnels, I had two stacks of 64 and one stack of ten.[/footnote]
I also found a little bit of gold. I know, gold is useless in Minecraft, but it looks nice in block form! You could also make a statue out of gold, but that would take a long time...
I found one block of diamond too, and a whole bunch of obsidian!

I haven't explored all of the cave yet. I had to go and eat dinner.
Also, I was...getting kind of scared...
That's right, Minecraft scares me sometimes! I'm not the only one!

So, for those of you who play Minecraft...
Have you ever come across an amazing cave?

Minecraft is one of those games (like Dwarf Fortress) that I could never play myself. I don't have the patience. But I love watching or reading about people playing them.

I too have come across many amazing caves in minecraft. It is an amazing game. There is only one downside. Sense the game is constantly being developed and updated, if you put a lot into a level it will eventually become useless because he updates it. So there is so much new stuff if you make a new level that your old levels begin to look bland.

Not that I'm complaining, I also love the fact that it continues to evolve. It's just a double edged sword.

I have to many amazing adventures to post about.

I guess the coolest would be that i made a copy of the lich king's floating castle. It took me like 9 hours and another 2 on wow taking screen shots from different angles.

Minecraft doesn't need patience, it's just 3D paint with some light rpg mechanics :D

You should jump onto the classic multiplayer at least, that strips away the rpg part so you can just build stupidly huge castles!

Yeah, there are also dungeons!

They aren't actual dungeons, they're just a room with some chests and a mob spawner inside it.

I haven't found a dungeon yet....
*sadness*

The multiplayer I might be able to enjoy for a bit, but I know I'd end up bored eventually. I'd start thinking 'what's the point?' and give up. Same reason i can't play MMO's. Love watching other people play it though.

I never understood that saying. Who would make a sword with only one sharp edge?

OT: I played Mincraft once towards the beginning of its life, before these special picks, and iron bars, but I dug as far down as it would let me and found this lake of lava, and then I tried to funnel it away. It filled the whole map though, so there was no way to send it elsewhere. I'll have to see if I can download a more recent version.

I agree that it is a weird saying. Of course the katana only has one sharp edge, but there's a reason for that.

As for the actual saying, I would guess it comes from the fact that if you are blocked and your sword forced upon you, the second edge would cut you as well.

Like "it hurts them and hurts you as well" and somebody just thought s sword worked best for that description and it stuck.

OT: I'm also fond of making floating islands with waterfalls coming off of them. Once there was a canyon with two really tall points. So I promptly made a water fall off of each and a floating island high above in between them with a waterfall falling into each of the two pools where the two mentioned before started.
