I got completely lost in a mine the other day. A really expansive catacomb. i can't even remember now how i ended up getting lost. It has several "floors" with waterfalls making little islands below me in the massive lava pool. In the end, and luckily for me i'd bought some wood down with me, i crafted several pickaxes and simply mined upwards.

Breaking the surface and having the water flood in from the sea was pretty awesome.

Sounds epic. I'm ignorant of how the game plays - I;m assuming you drowned?

I made a big ass mining complex in a coastal mountain in SMP, when I stumbled across a natural cave way deep underground. It was pretty big and expansive and it ran in to the direction of the sea. I, too, got lost, and I started to dig upwards. Then I went back in the cave, moved further, dug upwards, went back.. etc.
When I was done exploring, I connected all the 1x1 'skylight' mineshafts to my own man-made mine and the whole confusing cave was much easier to navigate in :) The sea was littered with small cobblestone platforms with candles as well :p Seafloor being 20 blocks beneath the surface, had to make cobblestone shafts underwater.

OT: My rage isn't the game, but the players. Once a griefer flooded and destroyed minor crap in my mine, which ticked me off. The second griefwave was much worse unfortunatly - water fucking everywhere, and he used my vast cobblestone supplies (I kept every cobblestone during the excavation of a 40x20xmanydigitshigh hall) to fill up the shafts I dug. Farm topside looted and demolished. Ugh, I hate people like that.

Moved away from that area :< And started somewhere much further away from the central spawn of the server I play on.

The rage caused by the game? Somehow my farm valley was on the highway of Creeper Convention. Turning around and seeing 4 of them closing in on you = not good. It was like that every night :<

Minecraft pissed me off so much yesterday. Firstly, I had found 6 diamond close to lava and bedrock only to die by the lava and lose all my items. Which is fine i guess, not the games fault its me who failed. Afterwords, I found another 6 diamonds. As i mined them, they dropped on the floor and i walked over them. I mined it using a iron pick axe (I didn't use stone, Im not that much a noob) but they didn't even show up on my inventory screen! (which still had empty slots). They just never showed up. From now on, when i find rare ores I'm going to mine just one and see if it appears in my inventory. If not ill just restart the game.

I guess these bugs are still normal in alpha stage, I'm just annoyed that i lost a total of 12 diamond in one few hour sitting. So, what minecraft fails have you experienced or seen?
while you can't mine diamonds effectively with Stone picks, don't overlook stone pick axes. They're ridiculously cheap, and renewable as you're actually able to create stone using lava. Iron is a limited resource and should only be used when stone isn't applicable.

Don't have an account? Look for Green Dot cards. Put twenty bucks on it, and you can open a Paypal account with it and use that to buy the game.
