Yeah, I used to have that problem with a number of things, although more because the games presented an alternative spiritual case which didn't fit with my parents' religious indoctrination of me. OoT used to be one of those things.... *sigh* Anyway, I'm still surprised she thought the music was demonic, considering it's a Latin chant with electric guitars. Since the church used Latin chant for the majority of its existence, that's quite ironic.

kill your parents, it's the only answer.

But in all seriousness invest in headphones or just pull up some stuff from Cradle of Filth or Slayer and show your mom what devilish music actually sounds like.

To borrow from MovieBob....

MOTHERS

ARE

WEIRD!

mine was a firm subscriber to that mothers against d&d rubbish, to the point where I had to make a secret compartment in the ceiling of my bedroom to hide my books and dice in to stop her from burning it all.
She also stopped me buying properties on the first row of the monopoly board during family game night because "those places are where the drug dealers, junkies and prostitutes live". I still feel sorry for my dad having to live with her nonsense for 45 years (and counting).

Is your mum a spiritual person...
If so I'd respect her wishes.

If she's just christian.
Tell her,
it does not state anywhere in the bible or any Chrisitian teachings that any form of music can be inherently evil.
-Then Listen to "Those Chosen by the Planet"

[Edit]
Allow me to take this opportunity to make you jealous... then some advice:

My mum loved Advent Children. Said it was beautifully made. Never played Final Fantasy in her life, but loved it all the same.
Try showing your mum the film. She might understand.

Ironically it is about an archetypical "fallen angel"...It is the very definition of demonic.
SHE IS CORRECT!!! STOP FRACTURING YOUR AURA!!!

or, y'know, headphones

Your mother's argument sounds reasonable and well thought out. You should respect her wishes by no longer listening to music that is so overtly demonic.

Kinda sad when somone lets superstitions blind them to any type of art form. As for dealing with that, I'd say try and reason with her, explain to her what the music is about.

Failing that goto youtube, put ya sound on max, search for "Akercocke" and pick any song of theirs. Then ask if she'd rarther the advent children soundtrack or more of that.

Put on some black metal fer her. Dark Throne or Marduk preferably.

My dad had this problem when I started listening to death metal. He got over it after a while. He started to say that as long as I don't start being like one of his old friends (the friend got horn implants and was a druggie, who had a house filled with Christian stuff that was burnt and destroyed) that it was okay.

It does sound that way. That was the first feeling that I got because I instantly thought "Jaws."

You should play the lazy town cake song when shes walking past your room and see what she thinks then

If she asks why just say to protect her "spirit"

The FFVII game version or the Advent Children version? both are awesome :D

That's an unfortunate situation, I slowly progressed, and made my mum listen to the kind of music that I like (I enjoy all kinds of music, I'm just talking about the ones that she's not accustomed to). Rock, heavy metal, gothic, orchastrael, "Epic Music" (E.S Posthumus, Immediatte music, X ray dog, Two steps from hell).

Over time she has begun to like them and understand them better, especially when I explain the songs meanings, which are usually much more deep and emotional than most of the contemporary music these days.

No offense, but your mum just seems to be over-reacting, I have also let my mum listen to One Winged Angel (Both versions), and she liked them. They fit the mood of the game and movie greatly, and even when she just listened to the music alone, she still agreed that it was beautiful in its complexity and variety. If you have a desperate or frightful situation in a movie or game, then the music has to also be consistant with that tone. If the music doesn't match than whats the point? It certainly doesn't make it demonic, at least my mum doesn't think so.

That is so not demonic. Bit psychotic certainly. Anyway, play her some Black Metal. Show her this, see if she realises they're having fun, kinda mocking Black Metal. Actually, ask for her opinion on Black Sabbath. If she calls them satanists, there's probably no hope.

My mum never really cared that I listen to Metal. She's christian, luckily nowhere near fundamentalist levels, so not stupid enough to start talking about how it's turning me into a Satanist or how she won't have it in her house. Obviously if I have it up too loud she tells me to turn it down.
EDIT: Heh. Just realised this was all written in present tense. Half a year, it's still kinda weird that I moved out...

Welcome to the time of your life when everything you enjoy is disapproved of by your parents; any attempts to reason with them over their subjective interpretation of your tastes in things is met with little success. You could troll her by playing black and death metal at maximum volume. Alternatively, just ignore it and/or get headphones, as has been suggested.
umm no I enjoy game programming and video games and my parents support me so it doesent really happen to everyone

OT: Lol at your mum demonic is okay in the sense that you say that musics bloody demonic turn that shit off (followed by laughter)* but the way she said it was weird

Really? I see exactly where she's coming from. I mean, if someone knows absolutely nothing about something else, they need to rationalize with things they already know. She knows that the latin chanting, the "one winged angel", the scary moments at times (i know it doesn't seem like it to us, but it did to her), and maybe it was just too much for her. She doesn't need help, she's just being a mother and assuming the worst.

Did you bother to explain to her that it's the theme song for a VILLAIN who is out to destroy the world?

Explain to her it's in a similar spirit to other music from the cinema like that, like the "Imperial March" from Star Wars.

As opposed to being deliberatly annoying by playing even more obnoxious music, a bit of explanation can go a long way. Just saying.

Listening to the youtube version that Trezu linked, I can see what she means. The tune uses pretty much every horror theme cliche invented. It even has Hitchcock violins in the beginning. I think my soul died a little just listening to it. ;-)

Your mom is absolutely insane. I know this because my friend's mom thought his music (mostly Disturbed and Slipknot and Avenged Sevenfold and Cannibal Corpse) was demonic, and that his headphones were actually physically releasing demons out into his ears and that they were getting into his brain and fucking him up, and that if he listened to it enough, the demons would leech off into his clothes and get into her ears when she washed them, or he would stab her in the night or something ridiculous like that. Guess what, she turned out to be absolutely insane.

I think Disturbed is pretty awesome and I think One Winged Angel is one of the greatest songs ever. I don't much care for Cannibal Corpse but I know it's not demonic, I just think it's shitty music. It's a sound file. It's noise. There's no demons in it. Or, maybe demonic means that's what the demons listen to while they work or something. And in that case, I wouldn't be surprised, because who wouldn't listen to something as crazy awesome as One Winged Angel while they worked? That song kicks ass, no wonder the demons like it.

...

No, but seriously, I suggest an intervention. I hear those work wonders.
