Sorry about this... but its an adventure I wanted to tell.
Yesterday I stated in this forum that I was going to buy the orange box after I got out of work. Well I did, but it was a long hard road before I found the game.
First, I got out of the office and crossed the road to the mall just in front of it. Checked all of the stores in there, but couldn't find anything.
?No matter, there are still other stores? I thought to myself.
With that in mind I got into the subway and went to my next destination. When I got out of the underground network I realised that it was raining. It wasn't pouring, but still enough to get wet. That wasn't an real issue for the simple fact that I had and umbrella.
Take that nature! ...Little that did I know that she was going to haver her revenge....
In this next mall I was more optimistic about finding it, because this time I found Halflive EP:2 and TF2 in separate packages, so somewhere in there should be the box. At the end of my little tour through this mall I was fairly disappointed since I probably found all of the Orange box game, but sold separately which was a bummer.
Ok so on to the third and last option (also the one nearest home). Confident that I was going to find the orange box there I jumped onto the train and crossed my fingers. At least the raid stopped...
When I arrived at the station I had two options: 1) Wait for a bus that would go to the mall, but not in a really direct way. Or 2) go to a small path that went from the station, directly to the mall (10 minute walk).
?Fuck that, I want to do this quickly and I don't mind the walk?
So I choose option 2.
All went well until I crossed the small highway just before the path. Fist of all, people around here call it a goat path. Why? I don't actually know, its just a small dirt path in the middle of a grassy field. (Probably made by goat herders passing by). But as I walked that path I was soon remembered that had been raining which made the freaking thing into a swamp!
You know how when you play a strategy game, the swamp land appears and there's always some tooltip saying: ?Units will walk slower in swamp terrain? (excluding if they are lizardman). Well, just be glad then don't fall over and trip and such... What what should be the last 3 minutes of the walk turned into 10 agonizing minutes. I was constantly tying to keep my balance and see if I didn't smudged my shoes that much, but in the end it was inevitable and one of my feet ended up ankle deep in mud (seriously). I was able to escape the treacherous swamp and emerge to behold the entrance of the mall...
With my feet covered in mud I entered the mall and went to the ?Game? shop. I noticed people looking at me in a strange way. Most likely because I had my feet covered in mud (and later found out that my face had a little smudge too) but I didn't care and walked in there with my chin up!
And after this ordeal I finally could hold a copy of the orange box in my hands! I didn't even spent any more time debating what other games where available, even though I could see Battle March mocking and teasing me through the corner of my eye. But I didn't care and didn't even looked back. Bought the orange box and got out of there.
Installed Steam, joined the Escapist community, played a little HL2 and Portal.
And so ended my odyssey
FYI: HL: Ep 2 and TF2 were each 30?, Portal was 15? and I got the orange box for 20?. A fact that makes me leave a question: ?what the hell is wrong with these stores??
