Well first off, I don't mind if you buy them, I do as well sometimes but with much hesitation.
I am not talking about the bonus making of DVD, or the lame toy on the side, or even changed box art, if you want to buy that shit then go ahead. No my problem lies within the limited edition games themselves. Why the hell do game developpers keep some content exclusive to the limited edition versions of games? It makes no sense to me because why not release whatever game content as DLC?
For example Fable 2, the Halo style armor. I guarentee that people would have paid money to get that costume as a stand alone, in fact more money would have been made if they had done that!
Now take Halo Wars, I was forced to pre-order the limited edition because it comes with an extra in-game unit, the Honour Guard Wraith(I don't count the flaming Warthog because that just looks stupid).
The only game I can think of at the moment that actually did what I would do(release item or character or whatever as DLC) was Soul Caliber 4. They waited a few monthes after the release of the game and they released Darth Vader for the 360 and Yoda for the PS3. I bought the Darth Vader DLC, and I would think that most people did.
SO my question is: Why do developpers put exclusive in-game content in limited edition versions of games instead of releasing it as DLC?
And by the way, they could always do and then release said content a week later for downloading, because some people are very very impatient, and some people like the other crap that comes with limited editions.
Fuck that was long...
