My Roomate Dilemma

Report him. He's the one being an asshole, you don't owe him anything. Someone will probably get moved and then this will just be a roommate horror story to tell. I was lucky enough to always have roommates who could deal with conflict about things (that, or they got used to my directness).

Being passive-aggressive won't get anything done. When you're on your own, you have to look out for yourself. It doesn't mean you have to be an ass, but you need to be damn sure no one takes advantage of you.

And a pro tip? Move into a house or apartment (houses are usually better deals but more responsibility) as soon as your able. You get to pick your own roommates and don't have to deal with on-campus housing rules. It was also actually cheaper for me to move off-campus in college.

I'm always amazed by college roommate stories simply because in Australia shared college dorms are such a rare thing (it's nearly always single rooms).

I say take him aside and explain that theres only a month to go, and neither off you need to be causing shit. Besides in like 2 weeks you'll be bogged studying for exams and your finals n whatnot so buck up it's almost over.
As for the dishes either wash em, or keep them in your room till your damm good n ready to wash em.

OK, dude, if you're not doing your part as a roommate, you're just giving him an excuse not to do HIS part. Why should he, when you don't?

I mean, really? You're refusing to do your dishes until he takes one of them out of the garbage? Do you have any idea how obnoxiously petty that sounds? Just be the mature and do your part for the dorm. That way, he'll be on shakier ground the next time you want HIM to be a better roommate.

I mean....Fucking really? You honestly refused to do the dishes until he....How the flying fuck did you think THAT would turn out? How is sinking to his level going to help solve your problem? How is that going to do ANYTHING except make things worse?

Thought I'd give you guys the thrilling climax of our confrontation.

So regardless of me making two reports and taking care of my dishes, my roommate was still being an asshole. We were suppose to talk to the dorm director today, and I was going to make my case to leave the room when something wonderful happened.

Pretty much everyone in our dorm smokes to a degree (I've probably done it three times since I've been at the school), but my roommate would basically gets high every other day. This occasionally brings campus PD to our dorm and today they came in full effect. The stench was so strong that you could smell it in the stairwell almost an hour later so it really couldn't be denied that someone had smoked. Luckily for my roommate, I decided not to say anything, and beacuse of that I have a lot more leverage now as I can easily go back and change my mind (Bob Marley has a better chance of passing a drug test than my roomate).

So the situation is this, I no longer have to deal with him threatening me and my property. In return, I'm trying to do better with my dishes. Hopefully, my improved cleansliness, and ability to get him kicked out of school at a moments notice will keep things civil for the rest of the semester.

So remember kids, if you're going to be an asshole to someone, try not to commit crimes directly in front of them

Well, given the change in the situation it doesn't matter as much but I wouldn't care if he got in trouble, he should have thought of that before pissing you off and breaking the rules multiple times after you asked him to stop.
