So my 360 recently (less than an hour ago) RROD'd on me after 2 years of a glorious relationship. Of course, this means that I'm covered by the 3 year warrenty and I will promptly send my box to Microsoft. So what are the chances that I'll get a new "Jasper" 360, rather than having my old one refurnished?

Chances are pretty low.

You normally gotta pay out the arse to get the new Jaspers. Or so I heard.

So it might happen if they decide to replace it completely, but I wouldn't get your hopes up. They might give you another old model.

Mine red ringed and they gave me a Jasper the same day over the counter. I was lucky though, the shop by me is awesome.

I've had one friend who got a different unit the second time he sent it to Microsoft, just a refurbished one.
Whereas another friend got the same one back, just fixed.

They basically gut the console and replace its insides or just give you a refurbished console with your old console's serial number pasted on to it. The chances are minimal.

Good luck!

I had mine RROD and they refused to fix it saying it has been tampered with (even though it never has). They say there are "screws missing" but won't send me photos. I've now been arguing with them for a month about it. THey also damaged it whilst at their service centre and it now shows a different error code, not the RROD any more but 2 green and 2 red lights of death.

PLEASE:
Take photos of all angles of the Xbox, including one with the faceplate off showing thr undamaged warranty sticker. Do not let them treat you like they have treated me!

They don't just fix them, they give you a brand new one, so whatever one is at the top of the stockpile they grab it from, really.

Did you try turning it off and on again?

Mine have three rings and when I turned it off and on again, it was fine.

They just give you a new one. Fix your old one, and give it out to someone whos just broke.

Thanks for all the responses. Hopefully, they just give me a new one, instead of a "fixed" one. Also, as I'm playing my PS2, I realize that my PS2 lasted longer than my 360 did... **sigh**

Check your power cords. Mine was half out and was red ringing for a while until I realized it.

"Jasper" models are the new 360 console recently released by Microsoft. They have better internal parts, greatly reducing the chances of RROD. "Falcon" models are the old, first release models that are the cause of all the RRODs.

Oh, well I definately had a "Falcon" model. I got mine about 3 years ago and from then on I got the RROD once a year. 3 different Xbox's and 3 RRODs all around the same time of the year too, at about the beginning of April every year, it's almost a holiday now.
