My STEAM's Not Working (Now Working)

So I try to get on steam this morning but whenever i try to open it up there's a box that says...

"Steam is already running. You may only run one copy at a time."

Wtf there is no other steam open. Help?

ALSO: I tried the task manager trick. Still nothing.

Huh, mine's not working either, but in a different way altogether. I cannot load L4D or L4D2 demo at all. The screen goes competely blank...

OT: Restart your computer. That should sort it out.

Mine started preloading left 4 dead 2 now. And ive gotten that already running message before. Restarting or giving the computer some time should do it. That just means its lagging behind. try a defrag.

Open Steam.

(There may be more than one Steam.exe running, close them all.)

Takes 2 seconds and works (60% of the time) every time. (for that error)

Also, if anything else like this happens, use the above method.

Either nuke all "Steam.exe"s via Task Manager or reboot the machine.
