I have a new friend, his name is mr machete...he chops those nasty zombies heads off and saves me...until he breaks...then i run away!

I'm loving every second of this game (except the driving could do with abit of tweaking), and as for you lot going on about the bugs, i haven't seen a single bug (provided you don't have the dev version installed). I like it alot more that L4D, never really saw the appeal in that but this is awesome!

I'd like to get it actually. Don't particularly care if it's buggy, I heard from some of the reviewers that I listen to that it's worth playing despite the bugs. Besides, bugs have never stopped me from liking a game before. (Pretty much any Obsidian game I've at the very least liked (If not loved) and you know buggy those get.)

I just can't afford it right now. I couldn't buy Human Revolution, the game I was looking forward most this year, I rented it. I'll probably rent this too, along with Space Marine.

It was patched pretty quick too, which is a good sign.

I'll definitely be getting this game, but not any time soon.

I'm hoping to get it for Christmas, but we'll see.

I really don't plan on buying it because it seems to be Left 4 Dead.

And I don't think there hasn't been talk because people have been playing it, its because the people who really care are chatting among themselves about it, while others are just sitting there waiting for another game to come that will, basically, in a nutshell, blow the game to smithereens in a month or so.
Blow the game to smithereens in a month or so...you're waiting for Skyrim, aren't cha? ;D

OT: I'm tempted to get Dead Island soon, me and my sister have been following it and we've agreed it looks pretty alright. However...

Had to quote you, OP, because I know you'll be able to answer this for me: have they made the female asian character shut the hell up a bit more? Her talking drove me to insanity in the gameplay preview videos.
It's pretty rare, and sticks to short phrases when she does talk. Of course, this increases during some cutscenes. But those can (if you must) be skipped.

It looked like an awesome game, but the reviews are in an apparently its half-finished, riddled with bugs and surprisingly shit.

I will not be buying
Who listen's to game reviewers anymore? They still say words like 'Rad', and insist that Xenoblade is the next evolution of the JRPG. Yeah, that statement has nothing to do with your resentment toward Nintendo of America.

I'm at a point now where I pretty much know what game I want just by looking the gameplay. And I want this game. It's like a deeper Dead Rising 2 except with no fucking timer.

Sorry, s'truth.
Might pick it up for X-mas though.
I'm in the opposite boat personally. It all came down to which was gifted to me first. My buddies bought a four pack and gifted me DI before my other buddy gifted me my copy of Space Marine. Sadly, DI didn't finish downloading 'till after I fell asleep last night but I'm looking forward to some zombie-killing as soon as I get off work tonight!

I do because they're usually right when it comes to the games I play. That is to say I go on metacritic and read the snippets. You may think I'm some sort of sheep, but I know watching gameplay isn't the best representation of a game and don't like wasting what precious little money I spend on games on bad games I don't like. Also, the user ratings are pretty bad, which is the final nail for me.

It's actually an absurd amount of fun with a friend or two. I played for 5 hours or so with a buddy of mine and had a blast. Not the developer launch version, just a straight up normal patched edition.

Yeah there are bugs and we had to find a work-around for VOIP always being on (seriously, if you're going to try and force us to use ingame VOIP, don't use some garbage codec like speex) but overall it's a blast.

Don't think we've encountered any game-breaking glitches and we've never crashed. Game runs like butter but the controls are pretty awful.

I dont plan on buying it any time soon , i'll probably buy it when it. Droppes price to 20$ , not before , i have no interest in coop games . Plus boarderlands with zombies doesn't bode well with me.

Pretty much this. Around the time an assault marine was jumping through the sky, about to land on my head and ruin my day, but instead of that, I was blasting him clean out of the sky with a heavy bolter I thought "Dead what now?"

2. If you have, what's your favorite thing about the game? Me? It's the jumpkicks. Definitely the fun you can have with jumpkicks. Also, the curbstomping. Best stress relief, evar.

If you haven't played it, but want to ask any questions, feel free. I'm here at work for 8 hours, until I can return to my new favorite hang out, Dead Island.
Have you played mirrors edge?
You know the game where you can wall run jump, 360 spin kick enemy in head
and curbstomping http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7HxUU2d4Aeo you can do that at any height and survive like saaaaaaay a 60ft drop in a sewer onto a sniperthen wall run jump kick his friend

I think it will be good. I preordered it from England and was just sent the notification that its being delivered. Which is awesome because it will take up to a week to get here so I can get my test, essay, report and oral presentation out of the way :)

It looks good and fun. I just hope it doesn't get too easy later on.

Has it got local multiplayer?
If not I'll probably wait a bit for the price to go down.

I'll be getting this game on friday, due to the fact i'm english and thats when it comes out for me. I've pre ordered it and plan to play it as much as i can the day i get it and every day after that. I have got a few questions though, maybe you can help.

1. How many weapons can you carry at a time? I notice there's an inventory screen and a hotwheel to select weapons from, but how many can you carry at once?

2. How long is this game? You mentioned playing for 8 hours. How far through are you? Because i want a game i can play for a long time, so does this fit the bill?

3. How does the level progression work? I know the zombies get stronger as you get stronger, but is it everywhere? For example, during the start of the game, you are level 2-3 and so are the zombies in the area. Later, the zombies are a higher level in a different place, and so are you. But can you get a high level and come back to some place with low level zombies?

Thats all i can think of for now, unless you want to tell me how the melee works. Thanks in advance. Really looking forward to this game!

Having a hands on review from another gamer is always nice, frankly since I'm living in Britain I have to wait till this coming friday to get a copy, but now that you've told me about the usefulness of kicking zombies I'll be sure to take it into stock when I'm fighting.
It all sounds very promising, especially after this :)

In Australia, we must wait. There are plenty of shrimp to cook on the barbie though.

I can see it isn't exactly like left4dead (more melee and rescuing survivors for a start), like the genre and zombies, so I'll get into it.
There goes the last of our respect.
I kid, I kid.

OT: Yes we are in Australia (Or ban it all land as some of you guys call it), it is coming out on Friday and I can wait to do some solo and online killing!

I can carry about 10 or so, unlocking more quick equip slots as I level, and/or by spending xp in my skill tree to unlock an extra two.As for how many you can have quick-equipped; seems like 7.

It's pretty long. At 9+ hours, I'm 20% complete with the main missions. But there are so many side missions... sooo many. ^_^

3. They stay around your level throughout, like right below, the same, or slightly higher, to keep difficulty up and work in more strategies. Like meleeing and kicking small roups of walkers, and tossing molotovs at, or fury attacking, higher level crowds and special types.etc

Melee reminds me of Condemend mixed with Oblivion. There's also a slight auto aim at specific body parts, but it's only a guide for when to strike, and can move quite easily. Very satisfying. I also enjoy that when you panic, and get swarmed, you instinctively lash out, abandoning all hope of aiming. It's quite intense.

You're most welcome. It was indeed, a pleasure. ^_^
