So I'm about three hours into the game. It's pretty good, but I don't think I'd say that it scares me. It's more like it startles me, what with the frequent "dum de dum, walking around the woods for the third night in a row with a flashlight that Alan should damn well know is inadequate by now, la la laaaaOHFUCKTHATSIGNMOVED" moments. It's sort of like that scene in, um, every horror movie ever, where a character sloooowly walks into a room to investigate a creepy noise, only to get surprised by an apparently-spring-loaded cat leaping out of a cabinet.
Also, is it me, or did the game designers NOT EVEN TRY to make the characters' lip movements match up with the dialogue? Seriously, between that and their dead eyes, just about every cutscene seems to be taking place in the very bottom of the Uncanny Valley. I've seen more lifelike performances from sock puppets.
Other than that, yeah, the game's not bad.
