So I think I've spent enough time with the game to write a little review.
Lets start our way out and work in.

Firstly, for those of you that don't know farcry2 has nothing to do with the first farcry at all, I believe it should've been a differant name all together, it uses a differant engine, Dunia, diffent Dev team and plot is totaly differant.

Now that we got that out of the way.
When you first start the game you'll be expecting Crysis like graphics to blow you away, I know I did.
Instead of jaw droping graphics you'll get some amazing physics,if you hide behind a bit of a wall, it will break if shot enough. Also if you try to find cover behind a thin sheet metal wall, good luck! The rounds will go right through, adding a sense of realism.

Burn down a hut with ammo in it, you'll see the bullets go flying in all directions.

Fire will spread depending on wind direction causing your enemies to become traped or you to die if you aren't paying attention.

Lastly for the exterior of the game I feel I have to let people know is the lighting.
Yes the lighting makes this game for me, you can see the bits and peices of light and shadow on your weapon and overall the lighting engine delivers the mood of the game which I beleive effectively immerses you to becoming part of the world.

Now lets talk gameplay.
For starters I played on the maximum difficulty to chalenge myself, and what I got from that was an experience I had never felt from an FPS every encounter has to be carfuly planed because there was always a chance you could die instantly from a sniper hiding in some bushes.

When you are wounded you see yourself, still in the first person, pull out the bullet or shrapnel with some pliers or a knife. This does an amazing job of reminding you that your character is human and can be killed easily.

There were only 3 parts I didn't enjoy

Firstly. The driving was annoying, not due to the handling but because you will encounter NPCs on the roads and they WILL try to kill you, and usaly succeed in my case, this makes you run through the bushes for 10 minutes instead of the 2 minute drive.

Secondly. The game doesn't autosave very often, so you just cleared a camp only be killed by some passing car, you'll have to do it again. But once you've learnt that lesson you'll remember to hit f5 every so often. (I died alot before remembering there was a quick save button)

Finaly. This was kind of an issues to me as far as realism goes. When you're holding the sniper there is no sway in the crosshairs to show that you're still breathing. Although making it easier to snipe from a distance.

Farcry 2 made me think beyond the typical run and gun style shooter and made me plan out how I would execute my attacks.
Farcry 2 is proberly one of the best shooters of the fall and is on my list of games you need to own.

PS: This is my first review so tell me what you think. Be constructive.

*edit: forget to mention I played the PC version

Nice. Short and to the point, explains all the things you want to hear without blabing on.
I'll read more of your reviews.
P.s, Ignore ppls who complain about spelling (i didn't see any in the review), I've got no idea why people care THAT much.

How is the AI(artificial intelligence)? I heard the AI is terrible which was probably the only reason why I still haven't bought it.

The AI at times can be bad, once a guy ran right past me while I was hiding around the corner, but once they figure out where you are they will try to flank you, they'll toss grenades,
And the coolest thing I like about the AI is if you shoot a guy in the shoulder he'll limp/crawl to safety and just hide there until you go away or kill him. Something I enjoy

If they hide when you shoot them does that mean that if you pop every guy once they'll get off your back?

Or do they sort of do a "last stand" where they lay there shooting at you?

Also i heard there is a machete, does this mean running up to guys and hacking their limbs off in first person? or just slashing them and have blood come out?

well when an enemy goes crawling off he usaly has a pistol with him and wont shoot you unless you get too close. Also I've found they usaly only do this when you use a sniper.(mostly cause when I have any other weapon I put enough lead in them to sink a battleship)

The machete isn't very useful, mostly because the AI will notice you sneaking up on them before you can kill them. It doesn't hack off limbs and was an instant kill the time I used it

Yeah I know what you mean with the treating your wounds. I saw a trailer where you, the protagonist, got a dislocated finger or something and he pulled it back into the socket.

i just borrowed my friend's copy of the xbox version and, it sounds like i had a similar experience. With the exception that i couldn't save without going to a safe house and that i played on an easier difficulty.
the problem i had was that to go from point a to point b i had to kill a small town worth of people and that by the time i got where i was going for the mission I'd have little ammo and or healing supplies. the problem with the constant trucks full of enemies and check points is that you really don't get any reward from it. in other games there is incentive to fight your enemies in the form of money and the possibility of finding better equipment so any risk from combat is compensated this way but in farcry under the best of circumstances you break even after a fire fight. Which makes the whole ordeal a giant pain in the ass that stalls the development of the story.

Hey hey. Soz new user but hell I felt like commenting on this game.
I got farcry2 on the day of release and was hopeing to play the game like a whore for a week and complete it before fallout3 came out. Didnt happen still uncompleted and I 'had' to play fallout, had been waiting for what, 10 years?
My views is that there are quite a few niggling issues that just ruin it for me.

Driving. You dont randomly get out of your car and have a gun fight in project gothem racing. So why did they make driving such a big part in this game? I have spent more time driving then shooting. Why?

Repetitiveness. Ok quite a few different missions, sure, but they just feel the same. Go there kill the same kind of people and take this. Go there, kill a load of people and blow that up. Not much variation. There are occasions when something unique happens and that made me raise an eyebrow but it doesn't happen enough.

Lastly and the biggest issue, voice acting. In this game is some of the worst voice acting I have ever heard anywhere. Half the time the voice is trying to put on this terrible African accent and seems to think that it also involves speaking really quickly. This is probably one of the easiest things to fix as well. I have no idea what is happening within game and who I am doing quests for.

However this is far from worst FPS I have played. The game really sets the mood by keeping you in FPS mode. Use a weapon too much and it will jam, malerea affects you constantly and snapping your elbow back into its socket is all lush and gets you in the mood. The AI is acceptable. I would cower and hide if an enemy sniper was picking away my mates, not run around like goons waiting to get shot. But that said I like how if an enemy is badly wounded they will slowly get up, stumble to a wall and as dieing try and take a few pop shots at you.

I am at about 70% complete and I will aim to finish this game!

Can you light entire villages on fire?
Yes, if the whole village is standing on DRY grass (which is very rare, but very enjoyable once you find one).
I snuck almost into the village wall, then lifted my flamethrower. Then i ran around the whole village, burning grass. Pretty soon all this fire spread itself, and a ammo-box took fire, and started exploding, shooting bullets in every direction. And the enemies came running out of their huts, right into the fire, dying screaming. Pretty soon there was not a straw of grass burned black, and not a tree not burning majestetically, and the village was silent.

PS: No actually huts was damaged in this scene. Because they cannot burn. We tried our best, but it was just not possibly. But this does in no way retract from the awesomeness of burning down a whole village, without killing ANYONE myself, just making the fire take care of the killing.
PS:pS: This game has AWESOME explosions. ANY other explosions in any other game look like DOOM 1 2d-sprites in comparison to this game.

Very, very brief review.
You made a lot of points which you didn't give examples for.
Improve spelling and grammar (it is important).

This really annoys me. Have you ever held a sniper rifle? The gun doesn't sway with your breathing, in fact it hardly moves at all, only making minute movements as your muscles move to compensate for the gun's weight. The only game that really did this right was ArmA.

One final thing, try and inject some humour into it, I've seen countless reviews that've said what you've said, and I want yours to be entertaining to read. Also, try screenshots etc.

Actually, the accents are pretty spot on. I have a few African friends and one of them sounds exactly like the cabbie at the beginning.

The same thing this guy asked himself.
http://reubenblog.typepad.com/reubens_blog/2008/10/where-are-the-civilians.html
But actually, on the medicine hunt-missions, you see a few civilians, and even give them some forged passports in trade for the medicine. And at the end, you get to see alot of civilians. And Reuben, our friend from the blog above.
