I enjoyed your review. If I hadn't already bought it you would have conviced me to.

My only problems with the game are the end boss and not being able to actually affect the tide of the war.
The boss blocked allof my attacks (devastators not included) and always timed his tentacle rape move to launch the second my critical pain devastator finished and I was recovering.
The war complaint isn't as frustrating as it is a bit disappointing. I was led to believe that you could affect the tide of the war by helping the factions. Like if I help the infected by destroying a military base or help destroy a military patrol of assault force the infected would gain more territory and vice versa. That little problem still didn't stop me from destroying hives though.

For Elizabeth Greene, I just Bullet Dived until I destroyed her tentacles, then jacked a tank to damage her. As for the Supreme Hunter, I Hammertossed him until I whittled away all his health to make sure I have a lot of stuff to throw at him when the timer arrives. The thing blocks my devastators like they're nothing.

Nope, that's not BS. I was playing the vagina monster, and the military never once tried to kill me, they focused on the Vagina Monster. They do that when you're attacking hives too sometimes.
Out of curiosity, what version did you have? PC, PS3, or 360?
360, if you're talking to me. I guess that's part of the reason I didn't see graphics pop-ups or draw limits.

The one thing I liked about Prototype was that you didn't really have to do the story to get all the cool abilities... other than that, I personally think that Infamous did a better job overall when it comes to the whole "super hero sandbox" type of game.

However, you did a bang up job on the review... Well done.

Side Note

I forgot to mention this in my review, but there was another flaw with Prototype. I finished the game, and started a New Game+, which is a feature that lets you start a new game with all of your previous abilities and upgrades. I decided to go back to my previous game, because I was so early into the game, the only opposition was presented by a few flimsy pigs, hardly a match for my wide range of powers. I needed something to challange me. But as I started the game up, I flew off towards the horizon, in search of a battle with a worthy opponent, only to be immediatly blown out of the air by a tank shell.

I came to realize that the problem with Prototype's combat is that it progresses almost linearly. As you progress through the game, the military and the infected forces both grow. It doesn't seem like a big deal, but what happens is, you constantly find yourself fighting, whether you want to or not. In theory, you should be able to bound and fly all over New York with out being found, unless you brushed too close with a soldier. This is the way it works through most of the game. But, it seems that as the military forces grew, for some arbitrary reason, they could detect you with no help from spotters or detectors or what the hell. You constantly have to fight off wave after wave of Blackwatch tanks and choppers. Prototype's combat was a joy, but as you get further and further through the game, it starts to feel like a linear game, because no matter how far you distance yourself from a squad, there's probably another one right around the corner.

I enjoyed Prototype for the most part, but there were some insane difficulty spikes in the game. I don't even want to know how hard the HARD mode is.

I also wish open world games could kill the whole "Two sets of collectables" thing. Crackdown did it (I found all 500 agility orbs and gave up after 260 hidden orbs).

If you want me to hunt for stuff, make it only one set. Please.
