[small]Yesterday, as soon as I found out the news that Myst Online: Uru LiveAgain was being released, I rushed to Cyan's website to make an account. As an old Myst fan, and someone very eager to play Uru Live when it was released (which of course never came about for me), I was somewhat excited to see this release. Sadly, the servers were down, it would seem, due to so many people trying to create accounts. So I shrugged my shoulders, went to bed, and decided to try again after my lectures today.

Skip to this morning. I woke up, did my usual morning routine, and fired up my laptop to check my emails before heading off to uni. While I had a free moment I decided to try again to create an account. Happily, the servers were back up, so I went to the 'Play' tab on the site and followed th instructions. I was told to submit my email address, and that they would send an email to me within a few minutes giving details on how to continue. I did so, and waited. No email came through.

Cut to now. It's been roughly six hours, and yet still no email from Cyan. I've tried again since, and still nothing. What I want to know is, has anybody else tried to create an account for the game (there's bound to be someone, I've noticed plenty of Myst fans on this site before), and if so, did you have this problem? Also, how did you rectify it, or didn't you?

I'm going to try again now with a different email address, since I've been using my Hotmail address to do this and I haven't considered my University Email account yet. If it works then great, but expect an update here after I've tried it.

Okay then, I just tried it again with my university email address and it worked sraight away. Maybe it's a problem with Hotmail...

Anyway, this thread is now slightly redundant, so to avoid having wasted my time (and yours), and to avoid wasting Themis Media computer memory and so on, I'm changing this completely. The new topic is, have you played any of the games in the Myst series, or read any of the background books and expanded universe stuff? If so, what do you enjoy about the series? What games are your favourites, etc. Basically, treat this thread as a place for an open discussion about all things Myst :D

Yea, I sent my registration like 20 mins ago and still nothing. I'm guessing that Cyan is still up to their ears with registering accounts right now. I would just try again with a different e-mail.

Yay! This game is popular again!

Agreed, this game is pretty much a dark horse. Somewhat ironically, as a four-part comic book series that was based on the franchise (though only one issue was released before it was shelved) was produced by Dark Horse Comics...

But yeah, the Myst series was pretty much the dark horse of the Nineties and early Noughties. I got into it through Riven, then went and bought the other three (this was before End of Ages came out). Sadly, like an idiot I sold them to various game stores when I was strapped for cash, aside from Riven which I couldn't sell because of a scratched disc (though admittedly it had a glitch on it anyway where the game would sometimes freeze in the submarine bit on Jungle Island). I'm looking to get them all again though, thanks to my recent conversion to buying loads of old-school adventure games again...

I only own the first and third games in the series (Exile, being absolutely kickass). When I heard Uru came back on, I HAD to get in on the action this time around. A game that comes back from the dead like that deserves the Dark Horse title indeed

OTNT*: Yes, I have played the games.

1, 2 and... 4 I think.

Great games, scared the shit out of me when I was a kid

And here I thought I was the only one that got creeped out by them. My experience is mainly with the original Myst, though I did play a bit of Riven. It was just so empty, it was my first experience in a game where it was just the character (that you didn't even know what he looked like) solving puzzles in these tripped out worlds. The ending of the first one, with the books, gave me nightmares as well.

Heh, it would appear that the Uru Live servers are so full of people downloading the game launcher and wantingto play, that they are completely down. According to the patcher update now downloading on my laptop, it's going to take roughly 13 hours to download a mere 1.2GB of data. Popular game indeed...

I loved Myst. It's one of the first games that properly got me into gaming. Too bad my computers too crappy at the moment.

I've got all five games plus Uru Complete, the book trilogy, and I even taught my wife a few D'ni phrases.

And I'm waiting for the servers to resume living.

I am Myst's *****.
