Sending pics is kind of a kinky sign of affection. I guess in either case it's something naughty to do with somebody that you're comfortable with.

Th bigger question is , why are so many people afraid to be seen naked? I mean i have tons of naked pictures of myself that i show friends . It's not like they have things people haven't seen before .

Only wanted to say that I agree with you entirely. My lady even showed naked pictures of me to one of her gay friends because she knew he'd like them. My reaction to that was basically: Let me help you pick which ones.

Because showing off your body in a safe context in a way that won't get you judged is a good way to relieve a lot of the stress of being ashamed of your body? It's a release from a subtle little voice that's at the back of people's head saying that they can't do it because something's wrong with them. I'm convinced it's something to do with the reason victims of child abuse seek out older partners or people who've been the victim of domestic abuse end up liking rough romance; it's trivialising something traumatic to help get over it
Also, tutoring freshmen in highshcool when I was 19 was very difficult. I have self control, but up until then I had never had to exercise it nearly so much... .-.

Thank you Deshara (is that you in your avatar BTW?) that's one of the things I think so many people miss. It -helps- self esteem, not caused by it. I've had people ask my girlfriend if she does webcamming, fetish modeling and nude modeling because she doesn't like her self. Her response... nope I do it because it makes me feel awesome about me and how in control of myself I am.

I do wish the United States would get over it's hang ups about nudity and sexuality. Here in Florida it is technically legal to be nude in public as long as you aren't doing anything sexual, but it's rarely used to do anything but set up nudist resorts. Though it was funny when a police officer tried to threaten us for me taking pictures of her naked, in an abandoned strip mall... away from all prying eyes for her being naked. I cited the statute to him and he actually had to call it in and find out he was wrong.

He threatened us with trespassing if we didn't leave in the next hour and we were done with the photoshoot by then.

Honestly, we live in a culture that rarely considers consequences. I'd be surprised if thoughts went so far as the "trust" point.

I also doubt thought usually goes into the opposite. Not that I'm excusing showing off nudes of someone else, but most people seem to be thoughtless rather than malicious.

I've had friends flash me pictures of their SOs. I'm beginning to wonder if this is culturally normal, or if my friends are all just broken. Either way, I think the moral here is that nobody should ever date my friends.

I'm thinking it's more of a 1 out of 1000 case...if even that. Seriously, there are an insane number of naked pictures in existence and the only reason you don't see them is because it's a private thing

From a relationship standpoint, it is a matter of trust that if you share intimate photos with your partner, that person isn't going to share them without consent. It's also a matter of control.

As for me personally, a quick Google search will reveal at least one photo shoot of me in just underwear. Why? Well, it's part of my job (no, I'm not a porn star, sorry to disappoint, kids), as an actor and model. I'm perfectly fine sharing these photos, as they were made for art and "for the public's eyes". I have control over what I'm doing in the shoot, and to what audience the photos are directed towards.

That being said, I can't say I would be too happy with intimate photos of me in a more... ahem ...personal setting were on the web. The audience was for one person, and now the audience is millions. Big difference in those two scenarios.

I'd say the obvious solution is to federally mandate everyone update a nude front and side profile picture to a national registry once a year starting at the age of 18.

Jokes aside, it is the double edge of modern concepts of privacy. It is a behavior so prevalent that we have to address it publicly despite still hiding it like it is somehow an unprecedented, taboo practice.

I think the term "blame the victim" is inappropriately applied in this case. While I can sympathize that a person in a publicly held office or visible position of public trust would have issue with being displayed, if you are in such a position or have aspirations to do so you need an understanding that everything on the other end of the send key is potentially publicly disclosed information.

A lot of the legislation I see being drafted is more revenge for revenge porn than justice. I'm sorry; I don't understand how jail time could be an appropriate corrective measure for releasing a lewd snapchat picture.

There are many reasons but they tend to boil down to voyeurism. If you never intend for other people to watch, you almost certainly will later and showing them to others is simply voyeurism with a relatively reduced set of ramifications.

It's the same reason why people have sex in public places, basically.

For me its not been very easy to feel like I could be sexy. so some day I tried to take some pictures and that did indeed help my confidence. If I didnt like them I could allways delete them, but they turned out quite nicely (classy is certainly better than stupid pussyshots like on DA), so why not share with my boyfriend whom I trust and love for the times when Im not there?

OT: There's a reason why I don't trust people. It's because they destroy that trust for things as simple as borrowing a pencil (and not returning it, or snapping it in half), so why would I trust them with something more serious?

Obviously after that, it only seemed to matter if people saw me naked and were going to freak out about it, and/or try to blame me for it. For instance I am frequently naked around the house even in the back yard. But, we have a 6ft high cinder-block wall. You cant see me unless you look in a window or look over a wall, and as I said before; at that point it's your own damn fault.

While i agree with this sentiment, the law however does not. if i were to walk by with a kid, look though a window and see you naked, i could call the caops for "significantly disturbimg me" and win the case. because apperently your showing off while inside your house. silly i know, and i fought this law for a while too but apperently most people seem to agree with it -.-
