1. On Palaven's moon when Garrus tells me that the big glowing bit in the center is where he was born and his family is still there. First moment in the game where I really felt a sense of connection to a character and the world itself. (also seeing the Turian fleet getting kicked around by the Reapers, really gave me an 'oh shit, this IS fucking serious' feeling from the buildup about Turian military bad-assness from the other games.)

2. First Conversation with Garrus on the Normandy when he asks me how my mother is. That was a wow, awesome! moment for me, first time in a game I ever felt like a character was interacting with me rather than answering me.

3. Losing Thane, when you're standing beside his bed praying...that was a blow my mind moment too, I was getting teary eyed with that scene. (I damn near cried too when I saw Mordin die.)

4. A hell of a lot of other things that I can't list, like 98% of the game. Multiplayer is actually fun for the most part. Storyline was excellent, for the most part.

(Oh, final Renegade interrupt for Kai Leng after he's killed Thane, BEST RENEGADE INTERRUPT EVER.)

1. The massive Dune reference "We have Maw sign".
Don't forget Javik's comment on Tuchanka: 'They're too big to ride now.'

1. Tuchanka level
2. Liara's time capsule
3. Shooting cans with Garrus

The game is full of awesome moments. It's just those last 10 minutes that fucked everything up.

Everything was awesome except for the ending and Shepard speaking on his own too much.

But some specifics:
1) The gameplay in general was great. It is easily the best in the series, and I'd actually say the same for the combat-related RPG mechanics too. Lots of customization. Lots of meaningful choice in terms of upgrades and what weapons to use.

2) The tone and atmosphere of the game was pitch-perfect until those final few minutes. Background dialogue painted a universe in a desperate struggle (poor Joker...his sister). The levels themselves were better designed. Instead of just feeling like generic combat arenas, they felt like what they were meant to be. The Ardat-Yakshi monastery was my favorite. The ambient noise and overall appearance of the place communicated what a nightmare it had become.

Along this same second point, there were things like banter on the Normandy that made them feel more like a squad. And the soundtrack was amazing. I like it even better than the first game's soundtrack, which was also fantastic in terms of tone-setting.

3) The storytelling (also until the very end). Loved it. It packed some real emotional punches, and I'm not just talking about the heroic sacrifices. The game brought me nearly to tears a few times. It made me feel hate for a character (Kai Leng. I thought he was a great addition. I felt such a real rivalry with him). And it made me laugh (Garrus' wonderfully irreverent dialogue on Thessia).

1. Mordin's arc.
2. Actually having ammo for my sniper rifle in this game.
3. I started at level 29 and there wasn't an arbitrary event thrown in to start me at level 1.

Soooo much stuff....

1) The genophage bit
2) Geth/Quarian war
3) "Thats a straw, Tali."

And so much more... Pardon me, I have to go replay the game again.

1) The interactions between crew members. Not just party members, but between the Privates guarding the war room, Traynor, Ken and Gabby, Chakwas, etc. Very little things that had nothing to do, directly, with Shepherd but added a great deal of depth to the minor characters.

2)
That the Protheans were militaristic fascists! Vigil on Ilos made them seem Noble, a fallen race of Angels akin to how Atlantis is often portrayed. Javik showed just how utterly domineering and supremacist they actually were.

3) Eve. One character, entirely different view of the Krogan. Essentially Legion in ME2 for taking a race and turning all you know of it on its head. I totally forgive that we don't see much of her, her face is obscured by the veil. I totally forgive that when she's standing next to Wrex, you can't tell that she's female right off the bat. I totally forgive no Turian females in the game. (as far as I know.) I totally forgive how identical Salurian females are to the males. (I withhold my annoyance about the Tali/Quarian reveal.) All because Eve is awesome.

capthca: tuckered out. This certainly rings true for me with the ME3 ending debate, but then if I don't continue to push beyond my limits, how will I raise my stamina for arguing with people who are wrong on the internet? I must make the noble sacrifice so that I can continue to argue with people who are Wrong. On. The. Internet.

I must make this sacrifice, and I expect all of you to applaud me on this. Applaud me, my minions, APPLAUD ME! (or at least ask Mrs. Makt to applaud me once in a while? please?)

1. The geth-quarian storyline, particularly getting to punch Han'Gerrel and Legion's sacrafice.
2. Every single scene of Mordins, like ME2 they are entertaining but with more emotional weight.
3. As much as the ending was a dissapointment, I loved using the renegade options with the illusive man culminating in outright telling him that he failed humanity.

Basically the bits I liked built upon the strongest elements of ME2, often things I had wanted them to focus on more in ME2 as oposed to the collector plot (it wasn't a bad plot it's just they would have taken so long to finish the protoreaper it didn't feel like as pressing an issue)

Keelah, yes. It's a little thing, but that was one of the most painful moments in the game for me. Well, the good kind of painful where the story makes you feel things, not the bad kind of painful where the ending makes you bang your head against the wall.

I listened to the whole conversation with the Asari huntress (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XK-PgXkmWMs for those who didn't). I even authorized giving her a damned gun on the Specter terminal. Then I was going through my war assets, saw the note, started thinking about her... and it hit me. Tiptree. Farm girl, about 15. Hilary. Wanted to be a pilot.

No video game or movie, and very few other things have every moved me to tears, but this came close.

1. Mordin's outburst when you call him out on always saying the genophage was a good thing.

2. The Graal Spike Thrower. I've never wanted to put a scope on a shotgun before...

3. The Spectre office. I was kinda disappointed that there wasn't something like that in ME1. You're given a fancy title in a shadow ops organization, but no clubhouse?

In no order...

1.) The reputation system superseding the flawed, black/white Paragon/Renegade system. It really felt like I was playing my Shep the way I wanted her to be.

2.) All the cameos and nods to the previous games. Conrad Verner, Jenna, Captain Kirrahe, even Jack... no Shiala or Gianna Parasini, but it's cool.

3.) The sparring match between Shep and Vega in the cargo hold and my Shep totally beating his ass. Good times.

I'm really enjoying this positive discussion about ME3 for a change, I'm gonna go back and do another play through right after I finish HL2 & Ep1/2 again for the 4th time haha.

Oh also, to reply to a early question, I reprogrammed the geth, the sad bit about the geth destress calls as they were blown into space was from the base the quarians blew up.

Reading that made me sad and angry at the quarians after I specifically told them "NO WAR". I even took Legion on Talis loyalty mission in ME2 just to prove the geth were friendly.

JUST THREE? Why don't you ask us to prevent the sun from rising while you're at it?

Seriously, the quest system and last 10 minutes aside, the game is pure awesomeness, to demand we narrow what we liked best about it to just three options is unreasonable at best.

His accent totally didn't help. I kept getting a "Last King of Scotland" vibe from him, cemented by his brutal warlord-like mannerisms.

I think he's awesome though, that little bit with Liara after the Thessia chapter notwithstanding.

1. Various combat/gameplay improvements including the smoother cover transitions, more effective powers, wide enemy variety, and greatly improved enemy AI

2. RPG-esque customization options such as the level 4-6 branching power upgrades and the addition of choosing how many guns to carry, which affects how often you can use powers, and therefor can greatly change gameplay between any two players.

3. The dialogue and character interactions, as usual, up until the 2nd half of the earth mission, which inexplicably had none, or close to none.

Specifics that come to mind include Legion just before uploading the reaper code format to the geth, tali drunk, and Garrus's shooting contest.

Loved the game. Easily an 8.5 of 10 at least, for me. 10 being absolutely flawless on my scale, so basically nonexistent.

Still hated the ending. While not enough to make the game suck as some suggest, the ending as an isolated incident is still something worth being upset at the worst and disappointed at best about.

Well I loved pretty much the whole game so I'll try and summarise.
1- The atmosphere. It didn't really kick in until you were on Palaven's moon, but once it did, it really gave you the impressions of "oh god we're all fucked."
2- The gameplay. Really not much to say here. I like a good third person shooter so a third person shooter with telekinesis(or telekinesis equivalent)? Yes please. Just wish the multiplayer had better scaling difficulty.
3- Character interaction. In Mass Effect 1+2 it was always like "Yeah, these guys like Shepard" but I never really got the impression that they liked each other. Mass Effect 3 solved that.

First thing I thought of when I heard Javik's voice was "Shaka Zulu, except he's got the guns and everyone else has the spears." then squeed like a fanboy. I was totally expecting him to have an English accent for no decent reason. Though thinking about it, it does seem like when North America wants to give an accent to someone who is from a culture that once ruled the world but has slid into oblivion, English accents tend to be used. See: Transformers 2 and the old SR-71 Blackbird transformer for the most glaring example I can think of right now.

But yeah, I'm quite happy to have downloaded Javik, even for that 800 or so points that it cost. I loved how they threw that convention out on its arse.
