Name a game (or two) you never completed

And give us the reason(s) why. Was it too boring? Too long? Were you too busy?

I'll give two games that I never got around to beating:

The first is Prey. I was playing the game just before exams back in university. I was enjoying it but then I got caught up in the studying, exams and subsequent holidays. I just never picked it up afterwards despite having been through about 75% of the game.

The second is God of War 2. I wanted to like this series because they're action games based on my beloved Greek mythology. But alas, nope. A douchey protagonist and underwhelming combat were too much for me despite the great set pieces.

Oh and I'm not talking about the 100% completion that comes from collecting all the hidden feathers, main plot line discussion here.

Halo. The first game I never completed. I grew bored with it after about an hour.

Brutal Legend, the last stage battle is complete BS to me, so I haven't touched it in a few years.

Dark Souls, I really love that game, but every time I make some good progress I get my ass handed to me and I end up rage quitting. One day I will finish it, one day.

Prototype- I got to the part where you're supposed to protect this ground thumper thingy from a giant tentacle monster. Couldn't beat it no matter how many times I tried so I rage quitted so hard I sold the game.

Sly Cooper- I got all three games on the PS2 out of a bargain bin in Wal-Mart a while back for $9. Never got around to finishing it. Really need to get on that.

I'll limit mine to these 3: Super Hydlide, Mystic Defender and, for a recent one, Skyrim.

I'm actively working on the first as I type. It's been taunting me for 17 years now. I literally got the final boss right down to the tiniest sliver of hp last year but I turned it off for the night and when I loaded up again the save file had corrupted on an emulator(I have a real cartridge and console that I'm attempting with this time. I had back then but it was far too hard). The backup file wouldn't work either so I left it until now when I got my console back.

The second I've never managed to get past the third stage. Lots of platforms that disappear the moment you land on them coupled with enemies that spawn and fly into the direction you need to jump in. Missing a jump means instant death. Think I'll wait a while for this one.

As for Skyrim... There's just too much to see to get on with anything. I'll be running along and a gang of bandits jumps out of nowhere which leads me to a cave or a dungeon and then I find some loot, get overencumbered and either spend upwards of half an hour deciding what I'm going to leave behind or using Whirlwind sprint to get to my horse and fast travel to town with it. Then there's the mods that just make me bugger around with random things. Might take a while.

I have games I bought in the end of 2010 Steam Sale that I haven't started yet, let alone finished. A liking for MMOs is not a useful trait for finishing any singleplayer game...

My top 3 unfinished however:

1. Half Life. Xen, a last level so bad it's the trope namer for bad final levels.

2. GTA: San Andreas. Great game, but by the time I slogged through a series of road races you have to complete to access the second city my enthusiasm for the game was severely diminished and I just drifted away from it.

3. Return to Castle Wolfenstein. I've been playing this game on and off for the best part of a decade. I took a 5 year break during the enforced stealth level in the forest, then went back to it, beat that level and went on for a bit before getting distracted by something else. One day I will return to it... again.

Resonance of fate: i'm a fucking retard when i play that game , i have no idea how to play it properly .

Agrest war: zero : same reason, i'm fucking retarded and don't know how to play it properly

FFXIII-2. Worst ... game ... Ever ... And i managed to sit through FFX-2

Metroid Other M : Second ...Worst... game ... Ever .

Seriously , i have a policy of finishing a game once i start to reduce my backlog . The last two i don't even include in my backlog because i don't have enough will power to finish them .

Psychonauts - game decided to eat my web snatcher thingamadoodle. I wasn't about to redo the 800 points to get another one. Anyway, I'd already done Lungfishopolis and the Milkman Conspiracy, which are supposed to be the two best levels in the game, so I don't think I missed out on much.

DA:O - stopped on the final boss, never picked it up again. I didn't care about anyone except Morrigan and Alistair, and I wasn't really attached to the world. I would have kept going to get an importable save if I'd heard that DA2 had a more interesting world and more interesting characters, but from all accounts it's worse in both departments, so no luck for BW.

Red Dead Redemption - got bored. Too easy to get distracted.

LA Noire was my first ever completed sandbox game. I'm guessing it had something to do with the fact that it's the least sandboxy sandbox game in recent years. Just enough direction to keep me going.

Battlefield 3 campaign. It couldn't sustain my interest even after about five missions.

I wanted to give up during the shitty jet mission but my hunger for achievments led me on.

NOPE I had to stop.

Fallout 1. I just found it too boring.

Final Fantasy 9. The visual style annoyed the hell out of me to the point of making the game unfun to play, so I stopped playing it.

Oh man, I didn't even learn how to play that properly until the very last boss, and even then only because the last boss was about 100 levels higher than me and I looked up how to do it.

OT: um... lots, especially pre-N64 days when I was an impatient little kid who was bad at video games. I'm actually pretty good at finishing games these days, though. Saga Frontier 2 is sticking out in my mind right now though.

Disgaea 2. I liked it, but it ended up becoming too grindy for me. Not generally an aspect of RPGs that I like.

Persona 1 on PSP. Got to the final dungeon. Didn't feel like leveling up my lower leveled characters (the leveling is kind of dumb in the game) to finish.

The first Xbox 360 Prince of Persia (not the movie tie-in one). I can't really come up with any reason that I haven't finished it, but it just kind of sits there in my game pile.

Also this game. It's like my dream game...but the RTS elements...well...I'm absolute shit at RTSes. Still have it, not sure I'll ever finish.

Same here. I was super exited when it was coming out since I love the music and pretty much everything else.

The stage battles weren't that fun to me, but I still have my copy so I might get around to playing it again someday.

Morrowind. It's got so much potential, that was just wasted. Give me Morrowind's everything but with some good combat and graphics and I would most likely complete it.

I never completed John Woo's Stranglehold, it was just a complete pile of crap.
