So I'm designing a game character at the moment and the first step is to think up the game background, character background and all that stuff. I'd appreciate any name ideas you can come up with.

The name required needs to fit a female main character for an action-adventure type game. It would also be a fairly japanese influenced so the name needs to fit to that, so any american-japanese names, or just some fantasy type ones would do well.

Suggestions please =)

Ls, Gs, Bs and Ms are predominate consonants that initiate feminine names. By no means is such a suggestion exhaustive. Look online for name generators.

Whenever I need names I usually go to google for help. Or, if you want a certain meaning why not use translator? Other than that I just use names of people or chracters I like.

Yeah I know what you mean, but hopefully I'd see something that would pop with me when asking people, there's a lot of names in generators that wouldn't be fantastic. I'll look into the translator.

Thanks for the consonant suggestion Astroria, will help narrow it down.

Kyota is a good sounding name, its a bit close to Kyoto though.

CHIYOKO (ç?ã?q): Japanese name meaning "child of a thousand generations."
Surname could be MINAMI, so it would be Chiyoko Minami, has a nice ring I think.

I believe something like this [http://www.behindthename.com/random/] might be able to help you out.

Haru.

That one word is pretty good, it means Summer. I have a Japanese friend named 'Haru' =P. He's a dude xD.

Don't worry, Summer is a unisex name.

American-Japanese names, eh? Well, I'm not sure about last names, but....

Keiko
Minami
Mei
Rei
Nene
Shizuru
Chizuru
Nabiki
Ayane
Ayame
Umi
Hikaru
Asuka
Mami
Midori
Mamiya
Rin
Lin
Nao
Hachiko

.... and those were the ones off the top of my head... As for last names, any generic amerian last name would work, if you were going for a American-Japanese woman. As for Japanese last names, here are some last names I can think of without referencing a site:

Hisashi
Morimoto
Sakazaki
Honda
Suzuki
Kondo
Takahashi
Takahata
Suzuhara
Suzumiya

.... and that's all I can think of right now... Good luck.

Mei, saw it and I looked it up on that girl names. Found Mai(Mei wasn't there) which means 'elegance', which would be acceptable. It's short, fantasy sounding yet not leaning too much towards japanese, so it would be fitting for all audiences. Short would be more memorable and 'M' for femininity Yeah I'll go with Mai.

Thanks everyone

Kyota... I guess it would be pronounced kee-oh-ta.
Actually, that would be a quick slide for that name, especially if it were Japanese.

kyoh-tah

I like Kumiko(companion child) or Hanako(flower Child) or just Hana.

Haruko(Spring child) could be cute.
