2. Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine

Better than Gears of War 3? You betcha! This game is a roaring good time, with visceral, satisfying combat that seamlessly blends third-person shooters with hack-and-slash action games in a way that more games really should recognize. I even enjoyed the multiplayer, although that peer-to-peer crap needs to stop.

Poorly designed. Melee combat quickly gets boring and annoying and repetitive, also is ridden with bugs - throw someone over the ledge, he floats in mid air, you stomp on his head also floating in mid air, animation ends, you fall. Lol.

I found it to be quite the opporsite, hacking through greenskins felt great and good gamefeel with a pad. While the melee is no Bayonetta it still makes a great compliment to the shooting. However if you just play with the hammer all the time and don't mix it up with guns then I can imagine it getting stale rather quickly. However I didn't play much MP. it's one of the few games I bought used and was pissed off to find out it had an online pass. Grrr I wish online stores would say if a game has an online pass or not.

I had more fun with this than Gears 1&2 but I don't think they can be compared directly, 1 is a cover shooter 1 is not.

4. Sonic Generations (Xbox/PS3) (a lot of people seemed to hate it, even though it's the first time in a while Sonic Team got a Sonic game right)

I liked Sonic Generations too, not a perfect game by a long shot as the 2D Sonic needs to slowdown a tad as even with widescreen the game is too fast. Plus refinements made to the level design and the use of the spindash to keep running at full speed.

If you've tried beating Green Hill 1 in under a minute you'll know how hit and miss it is, IE jumping on those 2 Beatles and a Wasp to take the high ground and when you are up there you have to stop and spindash to have enough momentum to traverse the loop. Or that using spindash in a corkscrew is buggy, sometimes it speeds you up other times you fall through the floor or even jump backwards.

I would love for Sega to stop making crappy Sonic 4 games and make a better sequel.

Bioshock 2 gets far too much criticism in my opinion. Not so much that people dislike the game, but that most criticism is always a comparison between it and Bioshock 1 rather than an opinion on the game itself. Things like how playing through the same city is boring, despite none of the places being recycled. Or how it doesn't have a plot twist, despite Bioshock 1's being almost identical to the one in System Shock 2 (I like all three games by the way).

Prince of Persia (2008) gets a lot of hate, but personally I really liked it. I enjoyed the artistic style, and while a lot of people hated the end, I thought it was quite interesting. I imagine a lot of the hatred comes from fans of the trilogy before it for being different, and I guess that's fair enough, but as a game on it's own, I think it was pretty good.

I cannot think of any others. Plenty that constantly get criticised on here, but none that didn't achieve relativity decent critical and commercial success.

First Bioshock had the problem of us getting promised unicorns in a "choices matter" and other stuff, can't really recall now, but I was hyped imagining playing Bioshock. Turned out to me generic shooter with some RPG elements. Haven't tried second one.

Same with first Stalker - buying vechiles (rumors flying arround that in the end you could buy an attack helicopter), so I imagined riding my trusty Niva into the Zone's depths, exploring, scavenging for artifacts while encountering monstrosities and competing Stalkers, and then getting them back and selling them. In the end - some generic shooter.

First off, you are saying games are bad because you heard wrong information about them?

Second, do yourself a favor, and learn what the word "generic" means. Calling BioShock, and especially STALKER generic shooters discredits anything you say because you obviously don't know what a generic shooter is.

1.Battlestationsacific. Awesome combination of Air, Naval and Submarine combat. No one seems to have played it though.
2.Warhammer 40K Sphess Mehreen. Despite having to play as an Ultramarine I rather enjoyed the single player. Its multiplayer was probably my second most played after Halo 3.
3.Ace Combat: Assault Horizon. No one seemed to play this game, but I enjoyed the hell out of it. If you like cheese and arcade style flight games, give it a try.
4.Crusader Kings 2. Not sure if this counts, but I loved the hell out of it, despite the fact that its basically a Medieval Family breeding simulator.
5.Call of Duty 3. Yeah.............even I don't understand.

Seeing that some people have tossed on Halo 3: ODST on the list, I feel that I must say that even though I DID enjoy the game, I don't think that it justifies its $60 price tag. It was a great shift in presentation and felt very different than any other Halo games, but it was pretty short for its price. Also, it had quite a bit of eyestrain for me.

I'm not entirely sure how underrated this is, but I feel Skate 2 was an excellent game that I really don't hear too much about anymore. Aside from the awkward walking physics, it had plenty of replayability for me.

The only other one I can think of that I really enjoyed but isn't mentioned TOO often is Rayman Origins. It was a fun and fresh platformer that had the most important thing the New Super Mario Bros. games didn't have: A SOUL. Similarly to Rayman Origins is LittleBigPlanet, but that got a bit more buzz.

i loved skate 2, great sandbox to play in, nice controls, great game. still play it when i feel like messing around but damn its hard to get back on the controls after you not played awhile.

ARMA2 yea it is clunky yea military "sims" are not for everyone, but with a huge single player campaign, that was a nighmare to play through when the game came out, to a editor, to online multiplayer, to tons and tons and tons of custom mods, maps, weapons, armies, mind boggling how much content you can add to arma2. i never felt this game got much due this gen other the sheer hating on the controls and the ui in general. updates have greatly helped the campaign and performance.

1. Resident Evil 6- yes the review are split between good, bad and god-awful (looking at you Jim) and the fanbase nearly tore this game a new one on how bad it was but in my opinion the game is and I quote this, "Gas Station burrito" bad. It had stuff in you will enjoy and other stuff in it that make you wonder why in the world they put in the "burrito" and in the end if gives you a bad case of the runs you may not want to remember.

2. Vanquish- Fast paced TPS that kicked in to high gear and never seemed to let off even after the car ran out of gas. Story is meh and ended on a cliffhanger but it didn't get the respect it deserved even though it was better than some TPS out at the time.

3. Binary Domain- The game was interesting especially the part where aiming and hitting certain parts of the enemy merit different results, they had somewhat memorable boss fight (Robo-Gorilla. that is all) and the story did have a good plot twist. the game was more tactical TPS than Vanquish above but overall it's still good.

4. Blur- I might get some flack for this but this game was good, and think this game wasn't hyped up enough to push sales to Activison "Gotta be like COD quota" the racing was tight yet I found it weird that you can go 150 mph screw up on a turn and still maintain speed...Soundtrack is great and it was like if Mario Kart and Need For Speed got together and made a baby and this was the not cool but still hot baby.

5. Certain Android games- OK I said Certain games not like Angry Birds or Words With Friends, I'm talking about games you might not even see on the top 100 list. I managed to get my hands on a game called Calligo Chaser. It's 1/4 Streets of Rage with 3/4 general RPG fair and I like it and you have the cash and space for it Download it on your phone you can't go wrong.

OT: Oo, tricky to pick 5, lot's of under rated games... Hmm...
1 - Condemned (1 & 2), loved these game but from as far as I could tell they were never amazingly received or widely played.
2 - Silent Hill Downpour, Adored it, scared me witless but the general respose was luke warm at best
3 - Resident Evil 6, well I had massive amounts of fun, one of my GotYs last year actually.
4 - Halo 4, I would consider it under rated if it got any lower than 100/10.
5 - Silent Hill Homecoming, so scary, so good!
