So I've been replaying Fate/Extra and I wanted to bring up something I noticed about it which is the nameless NPC's in it.
Usually Nameless NPC's have the characterization of a cardboard cutout but sometimes games do more with them, as is the case with Fate/Extra.
Although you don't have to talk with any of the NPC's, if you go around and speak with them every day over the course of the game then you will notice little stories and unique character traits about them.
There's a couple that entered the Holy Grail War without understanding the weight of the situation. One of them was always helping out their significant other with their opponent and eventually the two ended up against each other and it seems that, rather than hurt their most important person, he didn't fight with all his strength when he fought her. His significant other, after that round, seemed on the verge of insanity and didn't make it through the next one.
Another NPC is always found in the cafeteria and he seems to always just talk about yakisoba bread. While it's a bit of a running gag, he also has a moment of some depth where he talks about how it's his small enjoyment while being surrounded by battle to the death.
Yet another NPC is usually found at the archery range. She's very calm and at peace with the war and has several philosophical things to say. She keeps her focus and is at peace with the possibility of dying.
And yet another NPC is found at the fountain outside the chapel. She'll often talk about the meaning of certain flowers (Usually with a meaning that relates to your situation or your opponent for that round). She also has some philosophical dialogue and seems to be a caring individual.
So what about you? Do you have any examples of Nameless NPC's that actually stand out amongst the crowd and aren't just wall decoration?
