And on a side note, and with a touch of irony, it is also the name of the colour and letter coded patch used by Nazis to classify prisoners in concentration camps. Ironic, because I am Jewish.

Middle: "Thorny" or "Thorn Town" (Three guesses as to what my middle name is)

After a bit of digging, I've found that Marie is, as I said, derived from Mary, and that Mary is most likely stemmed from the Egyptian word mry, meaning "beloved" or "love." So I'm terribly bitter, but it's not because of my middle name.
