I name random objects as well. xD The lamp by my desk is called Sunshine, and a bunch of other useless things in my house has names. xD

I name inanimate objects. My computer's name is Alonzo, and my phone is named Wallace.

i call my guitar "ferrari." my friend gave it the name because a. "guitary ferrari", that kinda works. b. its the guitar equivalent of a sports car. and c. its awesome oh and i call my beard "beowulf" because another friend of mine wanted to give it the most overtly masculine name ever

I've never named real world things, but I have on occasion named inanimate objects in computer games. In Borderlands I've got my auto-shotgun "Sasha", and a SMG called "Molly". If I ever get a real gun I'll probably name that one too.

O.T: I name lots of inanimate objects and obviously it is becoming a normal thing to do as electronic devices are beginning to incorporate an option to name them (e.g I-pods, laptop, printers, memory sticks, external harddrives).
