All my writings are hastily deleted because they're shit or hastily deleted because they're shit
Do not do that. Do not do that. Seriously, I used to do that, but it's a stupid thing to do. Write what you want, suck as hard as you want, but don't wipe it all; the editing phase comes later.
I do edit, but I've lost interest in what I've made. Why would I continue to edit this ~150,000 exert of a viking space story I drafted up when I've moved onto structuring a story about sea monster operas.

There's no interest and pretty much all direction I've put into it has been dispersed. Just about everytime before I delete them, it is after I remember I never open those documents again after I drafted it. Why hold onto a half-story with the last access date of 17/1/2009?

It's like owning an old beat-up car in your backyard that you haven't put any maintenance into for five years. Might as well sell it to someone else if you're not doing anything with it, rather than leaving it to rust out.
I don't know, I've returned to some of mine after years - sometimes if only as references to ideas I already previously had and working them into a newer one. And well, you didn't build that car from scratch.

Bottom line is, a half-finished story on your hard drive won't do you much harm if it keeps existing.
Yeah, true enough.

Though I still have this debilitating hatred of people reading my writings. I delete it because I don't anyone to read my crappy junk!

I tried NaNoWriMo last year, and I think I managed just under 10,000 words? It wasn't a bad attempt, but what I wrote wasn't exactly good, either.

I'm not entirely sure whether or not I'm going to try again this year. I have no idea what I'd write about if I did - chances are, it'd end up being terrible fanfiction. Original ideas are a bit thin on the ground for me these days, presumably because I don't have as much energy as I used to. (Having a job is hard work. Literally.)

I don't know, maybe I'll give it a shot. I don't really have anything to lose by attempting it, after all. We'll see how things go.

I've done NaNoWriMo a few times before... and even did a fanbase version of said event... They're fun because I write whatever my mind has been faffing about for days on end... also it's on the same month as my birthday, so I consider to do the 50,000+ word challenge before my birthday's a real workout on my writing styles...

You can count me in once again... However, I do use another name just because not that many people I know even know about this event... and that fills me with such ambivalence... (Those that do question why I don't use this name, at least...)

I just finished writing 60,000 words and it took me two months, but I wasn't writing every day. I've got a couple ideas for NaNo this year, so I'll definitely be doing it.

Never.

Never!

I could simply never write something of this sort. For me, the flame bottled is the one soon snuffed out; I hardly maintain any consistency within the confines of my own mind, let alone the pages of a book.

Truth be told, the most likely piece of writing I'll ever complete will be my memoirs and naught else.

I would, but there is no way in heaven or hell I'd ever be able to do it. I had trouble writing a five paragraph paper in school even when I had plenty of facts to work with. Not to mention I'm lazy as hell so I probably wouldn't even get around to planning what I want to write, let alone writing even 5000 words of a story.

Count me in. I've tried doing it in previous years, and never actually won. Best I got was about 16-20,000 words.

What genres are people planning on? I always avoided Sci-fi and fantasy, because they seemed easier to me. You could potentially pump out a thousand or so words, just describing a setting or a space ship or something. It isn't a good way to write stories, but it is a tempting way to bulk up to 50,000 words. I might actually give it a try this year though, just to see if I get something done. It'll be a lot easier than writing satire/humour, that's for sure.

I'll be attempting it for the first time. All of my friends have been doing it for several years now, so I believe it's time to give it a shot.

I'll be participating. I'm using it to force myself to finish my second novel. I was 75,000+ words into it in the first draft when I realized it wasn't quite what I wanted, so I broke it down and started (mostly) fresh. I'm around 17,000 words now, but life just seems to keep getting in my way. I'm looking forward to taking up the challenge for the first time.

No, but I am using the structure and goal of it to finish a 44000 word first draft I started 2 years ago. It is long overdue and I don't like leaving things unfinished.

Tried it a couple of years ago, and finally managed to finish my novel. (So yeah, I didn't start out from scratch, but hey, at least my novel is done.)

Hmmm. Didn't know this was a thing.

I know this is a thing now. Birthday present to myself: Start writing Dome.

Nah, I'm not going to do it mainly because I don't really enjoy writing prose as much as I do other stuff. I do have writing projects I need to work on, however, so I will at least use this month as an excuse to get my ass in gear.
