Has anyone ever had both of these conditions at the same time? Would they negate each other?

If you're aiming at people who can't sleep but at times just walk around without knowing what they're doing: No I haven't met anyone who did, and you've been watching House.

If not, then someon eneeds to explain the term narcoleptic to me.

Narcolepsy: Narcolepsy is a neurological condition most characterized by Excessive Daytime Sleepiness (EDS), in which a person experiences extreme tiredness, possibly culminating in falling asleep during the day at inappropriate times, such as at work or school. A narcoleptic will most probably experience disturbed nocturnal sleep, which is often confused with insomnia, and disorder of REM or rapid eye movement sleep. It is one of the dyssomnias.

^^ Wikipedia's take on it

I seem to think Muhammed Ali has Narcolepsy

Narcoleptic people fall asleep despite their best efforts to stay awake at various times of day.

Ah. Yes, it was on a House episode.
Still haven't seen it in real life, but the two do not negate each other.

Narcolepsy and sleepwalking is just dangerous.
