Naruto: what parts are worth watching

I watched most of the original series of Naruto and enjoyed most of it, but I stopped watching about 20 filler episodes after the big waterfall fight between naruto and sasuke (saw it about 3 years ago).

I've been told that I might as well just skip the remaining episodes in the original series and start watching shippuden; all the remaining episodes are filler I'm told.

Does the escapist feel the same way? Is the rest of it just filler? which chunks of shippuden should be skipped over (can anyone refer me to an episode guide maybe?)

Yeah, just move on to Shippuden. There are a couple of good filler episodes, but most of it isn't worth thr huge time commitment it would take to see it all. Plus, this way you'll have the previous events fresh on your brain going in to Shippuden, which helps the story flow a lot better. Shippuden Itself is much better about it's filler: most of it is integrated in-episode as extended fight scenes. Plus, the filler is the only time.many of the side characters get to do anything at all.

I can assure you, skip those remaining Naruto episodes and move onto Naruto Shuppuden!

I had watched every single one of those filler episodes and they are a complete waste of time (apparently I had alot of time to waste back then).

The only slightest thing you would miss is just a few of the opening and ending songs used in the fillers are good (Heart Grow- Yura Yura) but hey that what Youtube is for!

As for a episode guide look over here http://naruto.wikia.com/wiki/Episode

Edit- Actually the only filler episode you may want to watch is the very last episode of Naruto just so you understand what happen to Naruto and co before the start of Shipudden unless you already know where he was during the whole time skipped.

Not exactly fresh, it's been a few years since I stopped watching it.

Meh, not much of it to be honest. I guess Naruto's a decent filler while waiting for something better though.

Personally, I'd recommend skipping Naruto entirely and watching something better ;) Oh well, each to their own I suppose.

After the Naruto Sasuke fight, there just is filler. Ignore it and move on.

One part in particular I liked in Shippuden was the Kage Summit.

Watching Sasuke get his ass handed to him repeatedly was gold.

Afro Gai and Naruto taking a piss on Ino's face were the only good moments of the filler episodes.

If you want my advice then just stop watching Naruto...I'm sorry but Shippuden isn't very good, at least in my opinion. The pacing is really slow, they like to show a ton of flashbacks to pad out the episodes, and then there's more filler. I gave up on Naruto forever once I made it about halfway through the 2nd season of Shippuden.

Random hatred, don't try to understand it. It just is.

Me, I'm personally not a Naruto fan. I don't hate it, I understand why other people like it. But nothing about it really appeals to me.

I hope that's understandable.

Personally, I thought Naruto was better BEFORE Shippuden. It was still fun and campy while still delivering pretty solid fights. After the timeskip, the author started taking himself way too goddamn seriously. and the angst factor shot up to eleven.

It's just... Boring! There's a million other shows like it that have come before. All in the genre that's pretty stale and predictable.

move onto shippuden. The waterfall battle between naruto and sasuke was the end of the manga before the timeskip when naruto leaves to train.

Yeah I'd say move onto the next series. Though personally I like the very last arc right before the time skip, it's only a couple of episodes and deals with the Sand Siblings. Personally I thought that it was pretty good, and worth checking out.

Manga is worth watching... er, uhm, reading I guess... even then it can be trying.

Does it bother you that a giant ape tailed beast is called Son Goku?
Why does that bother you?

(Assuming that it does, that's the impression I got from your post)
