Disregard Filler, Acquire Manga.
The filler may have funny moments but really the only reason to watch them is because they give the secondary characters more screen time.

Really? I like Naruto to but he's honestly one of the more annoying and least sophisticated protagonists. A lot of people feel than the "Big three" (Naruto, Bleach, One Piece) have worn out their welcome because they've gone on sooooooo long and aren't very mature.
Well considering how the manga is going right now, I'd say Naruto is coming to a close soon and the first of Bleach's final two arcs has just ended or is about to end. One Piece on the other hand has only recently gotten past the halfway point so that's gonna be around for a while still.

I wouldn't have thought that Shouen(sp?) manga would be too concerned with maturity anyway. They're more about that whizz bang fights and stuff. Which the "Big Three" deliver....except maybe for Bleach. A lot of the fights in that can be kinda stale.

Manga is worth watching... er, uhm, reading I guess... even then it can be trying.

Does it bother you that a giant ape tailed beast is called Son Goku?
Why does that bother you?

(Assuming that it does, that's the impression I got from your post)
Cause the Bee Octopus was already forced down my gullet... now I have to realize an Ape King from ancient folklore too?! Not to mention the flake out on every Son Goku variation I have ever heard of.... they make him the most respectable tailed beast ever seen?!?! WTF!

I love how they are all starting to see Naruto, but I think they phoned it in by naming a beast after an imprisoned prankster from lore. It would have been better if they represented that tailed beast in a different way if they wanted to name him so.
Considering who authors Naruto, Son Goku isn't so much as a reference to Journey to the West as it is a reference to Dragonball(Which is by extension, a reference to Journey to the West, but Masashi Kishimoto don't give a fuck about no Chinese folktale).

Ah I see. To be honest with you, while I am aware that Son Goku was a character in folklore I didn't really have any idea as to how he was portrayed so it didn't bother me that much. Hell, when I read the name I thought "Dragonball"

So you read the manga too then? I'm getting kinda impatient waiting for them to get back to the fight between
Madara and the five Kages. Although it's nice to finally see Kurama be a little less antagonistic.

Eh, there are different reasons for each person, but the main reason for many is the fandom. A good chunk of Naruto fans act like Naruto is the best anime in the history of mankind, and you obviously are an idiot if you don't agree. It's especially bad at cons, where you'll see Naruto fans cluster to mass numbers and either act like WAAAAAY hyper man-children or will go out of their way to make their love for the series and your ignorance known. They aren't as bad as Hetalia fans at least, those guys will commit genocide if you say anything bad about them.

OT: For me at least Naruto stopped being good once it hit filler and continued to be bad into Shippuden. One of the main things I liked about Naruto was that it wasn't quite as big on main-character-syndrome(where pretty much everyone is useless except the main character, or the main character will be getting his ass kicked then suddenly be able to turn it around due to the fact that they're the main character), but that pretty much went out the window with Shippuden.

Personally I like their filler stuff more. In particular my favorite part is when Hinata grows a spine thats noticable to everyone, and uses that new technique to beat the bug people up.

I agree/understand your references, but I guess I missed the part when Naruto became an idiot based on being dropped on his head... oh wait, we aren't talking about Naruto, we're talking about the damned new tailed beast!!!!
I'm still not seeing why you're so upset about this. It's a giant monkey. It's named Goku, because Masashi Kishimoto loves Dragonball. He named the 9 tails after a Yuyu Hakusho character. I'm not really seeing the issue here.

I guess I just see Naruto as fairly generic Shonen. It's not that I HATE Naruto, I just scratch my head wondering why it's so popular (especially when One Piece is out there if you want super long a Shonen series).

It's kinda like Bleach to me I guess. It started off strong and focused, then it caught up to the manga so they just started dicking around and I stopped caring. When you can watch nearly an entire season of a show and the plot is not significantly advanced, there's a very large problem.

But, to each their own I guess.

Wha wha what?

Yuyu Hakusho ?

Did I miss something?

LOLOLOLOL Kurama.... No, same name doesn't mean they were named after them..

lolololol
Before revealing the name, Kishimoto cited the Yuyu Hakusho character as being a primary inspiration for the 9 Tails in a Naruto Artbook released in 2009.

I didn't skip any of Naruto's filler, most of it was worth watching. Having said that, there was one portion of filler in Shippuden that I wished I had of skipped on account of how ridiculous it was.

But, to answer your question, I'd suggest not skipping any filler as some of it is focused on Team 10 (Choji, Shikamaru, Ino and Asuma) and Team 8 (Kiba, Shino, Hinata and Kurenai), which I found to be quite entertaining.

To be entirerly unbiased none. Just none the animation sucks, the characters suck, the techniques suck, and by God does the plot suck. If you really have to watch a mindless fighting anime that has more episodes then any other show, but the Simpsons just watch DBZ.

Before releasing a ten year cycle, I'm sure the creator of Naruto pulled a lot things out of his ass when he learned his two year project could last decades. His employees respect him for the job security...
Aw man, this conversation went an entirely difference direction.

Okay, let me try to bring it back to where we were before hand...

Naruto is still my favorite manga being released, so let us talk about what is instead of what we (i) think is...

Madara is off watching Naruto instead of fighting the Kages... Sasuke is off.... who knows where, supposedly entering the fight... Guy has not sacrificed himself for Kakashi yet, we all know it's coming, might be soon too... all of the kids who grew up in Konoha and Sand have little or nothing to do with the plot anymore, even tho they are all fan favorites... Sakura and her dry ass character development have been a no-show as of late... Ramen noodles? Dude with a scar across his face? The 3rds grandson? All no shows...

There is no way in hell the series is coming close to it's end.

They are just gearing towards another big battle, and will continue on for another (at least) five more major plot point season ending fight scenes.

I honestly don't mind that tho. I want more.

How the hell did Neji drop out of importance!?! That's something I have never been able to understand. At least Rock Lee had a game ending injury....

RWWAAARRR!!!!
That's not where we were beforehand at all. We were at "The 9 Tails is named after a Yu yu Hakusho character" and "No, it's not".
