nope. even a teleporter can't move things faster than the speed of light. the idea is that it breaks down matter into particles in order to move it to a set place as fast as possible. same way a tv obtains (or used to obtain i'm not sure how it works now) information.

Er...maybe not.

The definition of "teleporter" varies, sometimes it's fairly specific, and you can say more or less how it would work. Other times it's as vague as "you were here, and now you're over there and like totally almost not time has past and the stuff in the way doesn't matter, cause"...could be many ways of achieving the latter.

The [NASA] space agency has opened itself up to an eternity of Star Trek references.

I though Nasa open it self up to Star Trek References when they named the original prototype space shuttle the Enterprise.
