Hey all, a few days ago I made a thread asking for advice whether my Xbox would connect to a wirelessly connected Desktop. Good news, it worked. I can connect to Xbox Live. Bad news, my NAT settings are stuck on 'strict'.

I've used google and done what I've read, such as resetting the router (which was overdue anyway) and forwarding ports, but I am using a BT Home Hub (v 1.5) and it doesn't seem to like my Xbox. I know it works because I was playing on it well yesterday afternoon, but now I can't even find a single good match after searching 5 times on Modern Warfare 2.

Any advice is once again appreciated, thanks.

get a better router that is more user friendly. MS has a list of approved routers and from that list i picked the one that was the easiest to make changes to the settings on the fly. I have found that from friend to friend i have to make changes every few months to correspond to changes they have made in order to completely integrate the systems and prevent problems.

also though it is a security problem at times if you want the best performance your NAT must be wide open.

I have a BT Home Hub 2. Unfortunately, you're just going to have to reset, forward ports, assign the Xbox's IP to the DMZ, try these randomly until you get an open NAT. And even then, don't expect it to last.

So... the general consensus is that the router is shit, but it was working just fine and dandy in my last house with the previous set up. I know it CAN do the trick, just not in its current wireless part state.

Would the condition improve if I gave it a wired connection as opposed to the current wireless one?
