According to Kotaku, Microsoft's motion-detecting camera will launch in November 2010. This hardly seems like news, as most people have guessed a late '10 launch anyway. But the pricepoint is a bit more interesting. According to the article, Microsoft's target price is in the vein of $80 or less. They're hoping the low price will make it more of an impulse buy. So far, there are 14 games that will be compatible at launch.

So, what do you guys think of these developments?

Sub $100 price is essential, otherwise they'll fall in the trap of costing 'nearly as much as a Wii'. They've really got to price it to compete with Guitar Hero type stuff, not as almost another console purchase.

It still only sounds vaguely interesting, we'll know for sure when it's out and Molyneux can't gargle at us anymore.

Peter Molyneux loves Natal... That's enough to put me right off it. I'm not convinced. I play videogames to relax. Jumping up and down waving my arms and legs about does not seem very relaxing...

I don't think developers are dumb enough to require outlandish motion. The best games for the Wii use the tech in very subtle ways, and I suspect that the devs building on Natal will use the tech wisely as well.
