Call it whatever you like. I'm still not buying it.
this, and to add, this technology is not new, it has already been tried by the PS2 with little to no success at all.

microsofts stock after this is released:
The stocks of both Microsoft and Sony have gone up on the news of their new motion control devices. Unlike hardcore gamers, the stock market loves the idea of motion controls. Of course, if they don't sell well all that love will turn sour pretty quick.

Ah, codenames are always are better than real names.

Except maybe Dolphin.
I remember hearing about the Nintendo 'Revolution', it sounded awesome!

Hmm yeah I'm gonna go with it's a joke. (If not, really? thats a terrible name for what it's overall ment to do.)

If you flip the "W" it looks like an "M" then switch the "A" for an "O" and Wave becomes Move.

Though Natal not being the final name due to people not knowing how to say it is possible (Nah-Tall) could be see as (Nate-ill) or (Nat-Al) etc.

What's wrong with just calling it Natal? Wave is so... So... Silly.
I guess Wave makes more sense as you're going to be waving a whole lot if it's remotely like the eyetoy. Also I guess it's because they're worried everyone will pronounce it "Nay-tal" after Yahtzee did the E3 2009 review.

They should have called it the Arc, just to slap Sony in the face.

Wave makes sense. While they're at it, they might have aswell called it Microsoft Flail. I like Move more, name-wise.
If they'd named it the Flail, I would totally buy it.
Sony changed it from Arc to Move cuase a mouse or something had the copyright on the name "Arc" so I doubt Microsoft could take it.

I guess I'm the only Escapist that doesn't have a problem with motion controls? Don't get me wrong I love a good old controller/Keyboard and mouse but motion controls are slowly getting more tolerable.

I believe that the holder of the copyright was Microsoft, due to their line of Arc Mouses.

Even though 'Natal' was the just the project name, when it was in development, I think it should stay. It actually sounds quite good, and sure as hell beats 'Wave'...

I suppose they could but they'd be a backlash of Microsoft blatently stilling Ideas from it's competitors. More so that what goes around anyways.

well I will wait until it is out, if it seems good I will buy it, personally I am looking forward to it quite a bit to be honest however, I am interested in what new options it will provide gamers with.

I don't understand this whole trend of declaring something shit before you have even had the chance to use it, I mean if I started mouthing off about how "Half life Episode 3 is going to suck!!!111! lololol" Then no doubt you guys would tear me apart limb from limb... metaphorically speaking of course

cant people enjoy gaming anymore?

I thaught it looked cool at E3, not like, "OH MY GOD I MUST HAVE THAT" but nonetheless...

Still, I probably wouldn't buy one unless every game I want starts requiring it.

*sigh* I understand why they're doing this, so that they can try and steal the casual market from Nintendo, but when they make sooooo much money from Live and being ahead in the 'hardcore gaming' race, doesn't this just seem a tad greedy?

Why do developers do this? Instead of the Nintendo Revolution, they called it the Wii...really?

Now Natal becomes the Wave, what's with developers coming up with cool names and replacing them with shit ones?

What the hell? Natal was much better!
First they make it overpriced, then they give it a horrible name? It's like they're trying to make it fail

Wow, it sure is expensive for two cameras on a stick.
Obviously the cost is in software.

Of course not. It's motion controls, so we are obligated to hate it automatically. If we don't do that we cannot call ourself hardcore gamers. Why bother playing games at all if we aren't seen as hardcore gamers!

But yeah, I think it's kinda stupid how so many gamers dismiss the Na... Wave without even knowing how it will be implemented in games. This isn't a substitute for the normal controllers, seeing how it uses cameras to map your movement. Which means it can be used together with normal controllers. I am looking forward to see how the industry takes advantage of that, and that is the one thing which decides if I will buy this or not. If that is the price it will have to be used very well for me to buy it, seeing how money is a big issue these days.

I hope they manage to implement it in a great way, for casual and "hardcore" gamers. Would be great seeing all the negative people having to admit they where wrong.

(I am also a proud owner of the Wii. It is great fun, even though the motion controls are finicky in some games.)
