Nathan Fillion Will Appear in Guardians of the Galaxy - Update

Nathan Fillion will have a small cameo in the upcoming movie Guardians of the Galaxy.

Update: <a href="http://schmoesknow.com/hot-scoop-guardians-of-the-galaxy-news-nathan-fillions-cameo-revealed-spoiler/25426/"]Schmoes Know[/a] claims to have learned from a "very reliable source with intimate knowledge" of Guardians of the Galaxy the role Captain Tightpants (Nathan Fillion) will play in the film. To protect those that are sensitive to spoilers (I had to debate with myself if I wanted to check), we won't list the character on this page, but feel free to check [a href="http://schmoesknow.com/hot-scoop-guardians-of-the-galaxy-news-nathan-fillions-cameo-revealed-spoiler/25426/"]here[/a].

Original Story:[a href="http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/133552-Nathan-Fillion-Teases-Guardians-of-the-Galaxy-Cameo">Back in April, Nathan Fillion teased he may make an appearance in the highly anticipated Marvel film Guardians of the Galaxy, much to our delight.

Now, after chatter started again about Fillion's role in the film, Director James Gunn confirmed on Twitter that Fillion will in fact make an appearance, albeit a very small one.

Nathan Fillion is best known for his role as Captain Malcolm Reynolds in Firefly. James Gunn directed the superhero movie Super, and wrote the story for the Suda51 2012 game Lollipop Chainsaw.

He may be best known to the readers of publications such as the Escapist for Firefly, but I think he is a bit better known to the general (bigger) public for Castle, One Life To Live, and Desperate Housewives. Just thought I'd remind everyone that the world at large doesn't really recognize the existence of things like Firefly.

As much as I like the guy, I am glad the rumors of him playing Richard Rider (Nova) turned out to be false. It would have been a very weird casting decision and think there are plenty of other characters in cosmic Marvel that he could pull off far better (Quasar would be cool).

What do you reckon the cost of special effects would be to have him on screen for 5 seconds as Pip the Troll?

He's already voiced Hal Jordan a couple of times, so Quasar would be oddly appropriate. He could also fit in as a random member of Nova Corps.

I've made peace with the fact that Firefly is truly dead and buried(Whedon taking the helm of the Avengers pretty much cemented that in my mind), but I really would like to see Fillion take on more fun shows or movies. I like Castle well enough, but that's mostly because of Fillion.

I didn't realise until much *much* later that he was also in Saving Private Ryan as the "wrong" Ryan. Very much a holy shit moment there.

As indulgent as it is, I'd be squealing like a fangirl if he appears in the film in his Firefly get-up. Though considering FOX's ownership of the show, it's only a pipe dream.

Do they? Do they really own it? Do abusive parents own a child they left in a dumpster?

But yeah, I would totally love to see him just randomly turn up next to serenity selling star lord some not entirely legitimate goods.

That's cool, nobody plays the role of Nathan Fillion as well as Nathan Fillion. It's his one talent.

Well one bad thing in what looks to be a pretty good movie isn't too bad. I guess I can tolerate this okay actor from the piece of garbage show firely.

(Note I have never seen Firefly or anything connected to this actor)

Guess it's kinda my own fault for using this site, but it would've been awesome to avoid that spoiler and have the surprise of when he turned up in the film. I mean it's not like I searched out the info, it was in the headline on the front page of the site. Yes this is just me p*ssing and moaning, but I think it's a poor show on the site for highlighting that info.

They were shooting some of this near my house I can totally, unequivocally and positively guarantee all of you fine and credulous folks that Nathion Fillion is appearing as Yondo. Blue skin, giant red mohawk, revealing spandex outfit and all. It shall be glorious.

I'm hoping the way this goes down is as follows.

Starlord is being escorted through some corridor in shackles not long after having described himself as this legendary outlaw. Then we see Nathan, in full on Mal persona and costume, being escorted the other way. Starlord asks who that is, and his escort says "Just another one of you " legendary" outlaws". Cut to a smug look on Nathan's face and we move on.

A boy can dream.

My bet is on J'son of Spartax. Probably just needed someone tho could fill the roll of Star Lords father in a flashback.

If only copyright laws were enforced in the same way as child cruelty laws.

While Firefly was a terrific show, I'm guessing he's better known for Castle these days. You know, been running and popular and a major network for many seasons and the end has yet to arrive...

Well according to Cracked all of the Whedon works have a shared universe http://www.cracked.com/video_18775_8-mind-blowing-connections-between-works-joss-whedon.html
and GotG shares a universe with the Avengers/Agents of Shield.

Mal's on his way.
